BUG: Opponent Citizen Transport : Capture = no further action possible

privateer captures citizen transport bug

Found an interesting bug the other day, and can not find any other reference to it.

Promoted a Commander to Privateer, spotted an opponents citizen transport, attacked it, won, captured it... but I now have a tiny ship that I can do absolutely nothing with (all options are grey), and the game is in a process loop that tells me I have to do something with it.

Seems there is something crucial missing here. Either the transport should be flagged as not convertible, or needs to be flagged to be upgraded (or scrapped for resources) once captured.

The other missing part of this equation: If I capture a transport or colonizer, I seem to get their personnel to use as my own, so what happened to the Citizen if I captured their ship? KIA? Undeclared hostage? Decided to abandon ship and walk home?

The bug where scavenging AI citizen transports locking up the game has been reported a few times.  For now, avoid attacking citizen transports if you have the scavenge ability.  No idea if AIs with scavenge ability have the same problem.

Just encountered the problem in my own game as Snathi. Very annoying to use "turn" cheat command every turn when the "Lost Citizen" message appears on the turn button and to switch the "turn" command off next turn to be able to see what has to be done again ... :(

Can't you use the console to kill the transport? Would that help?

How do I find the transport?

Btw I found another solution: move another of your ships on the transport, then call the "Manage fleet" function, there click on the transport and then on "Details" and there you can decommission the ship.
