You have an expectation of professionalism on The Orville? I expect them to be about as professional as Michael Scott on The Office.
I am perfectly fine with nonsense on the ship or while not out "on mission." For instance, loved the practical joke story line when the leg was removed.
But on a planet, where the Orville's version of Starfleet's Prime Directive is in effect, it seems stupid and bad writing to not only have a member go out of character and start dirty dancing with a statue but to also completely start ignoring direct orders to stop. Honestly I was hoping that character was going to get their brain fried and written of the show at that point. (Obviously no fault of the actor, that was all showrunner/writers/director)
I'd also love to see some throwback to anything other than late 20th or early 21st century earth. Whether going further back, or just making up stuff from the near future would really improve the show.
Overall, I like the show, there are just some parts that are super cringy.
