The 'map' size is also all wrong, you are right on top of everyone no matter what size is selected.
The map sizes were changed in the update, please review the change log... They are returning the Insane map size back to the original but, the others that is the new size with the patch and is working as intended. As far as being on top of everyone they also increased the object count so the galaxies would feel more full of things. Again working as intended.

So far any point you've brought up is working as intended and I have seen no issues with the patch. Only changes I've noticed were noted in the change log, which does drastically change how the game feels and plays.
Make the AI agressivess adjustable, and fix the map size issue.
This depends on the difficulty of the game, if you're struggling with "normal" difficulty change it to the next step down until you get a grasp on what the AI is doing, than you can step it back up.
Right now unless you love constant combat the game is unplayable.
I agree the AI declares war for dumb reasons right now for instance my power level is 6-10 times that of the AI and military power much higher than that but, the AI will declare war for me fighting a battle with their neighbor and happened to cross over into their space (not even near their planets/ships). Mind you I know I didn't have an open borders treaty but, still it should know when it can't win the war and decide not to go to war for barely crossing into their space, now if I'm lining up transports on their border or building culture starbases near their space than that's a different story.
Either way it's not unplayable just an annoyance of having to clean up some gnats biting on my arms as I work on more important things.
(I'm playing on normal difficulty on an insane map - prior to the cut back on size with 90+ AI) Very slow pace/tech rate and I'm cleaning up at turn 200 it's not broken. I put it on this difficulty so I could test the new settings with out being overwelmed, next game will be next level up or more... Not broken.
just one long boring struggle to survive.
I would love if it was a struggle to survive past turn 150
maybe to your point a little easier prior to turn 100 but, progressively more difficult extra AI bonus's ect past to keep the game being a challenge once you start to crank up your power ranking.
