CLERKS UNLIMITED
Failed utterly multiple times following the only guide I could find online because it fails to mention that the change in the clerks “strength number” during a sparing session bears NO RESEMBLANCE to the clerks ability. You would think that a clerk that only loses “1” from strength during a test would be better than a clerk that lost “5”. NOT TRUE, so ignore the strength reading completely.
Instead read the written report.
BUT, this report is only completely factual for the reports for “KNOWLEDGE” and “CREATIVITY”. At one clerk for each session you will use 10 sessions to get all of them, but, these are what is important to win 6 of the ten total tests! You MUST know these for every clerk to plan who train for the 4 double characteristics tests on Day 6 that require these traits!
All the rest of the reports are showing the relative ability of the two clerks pitted against each other. Only useful if you spend training sessions testing everyone against a single “control clerk” so you get all of them relative to that one clerk. Impossible to do with only 15 allowed plus 5 bribed sessions.
Try to test so you end up with 1 clerk with 1 untested trait(s). I try to make that one IQ in a clerk that tested very high in Knowledge or Creativity. The “Rough Malog” in the Bar shows up more than once, so if the IQ test is in day 4 or 5 you can have him treat that one clerk twice and have time for that clerk to recover before Day 6. Another option is for the Malog to treat two different clerks with mediocre IQ but one above average in Create and the other in Knowledge. (NOTE: Doing the Malog treatment twice on the same Clerk will likely leave that Clerk a bit tired on Day 6, but, if he started with “Fantastically Learned” Knowledge or “Really Very Good” Create, the strength can be a bit low and he will still get 13-15 of the 15 points in the IQ/CREATE or IQ/KNOWLEDGE test. )
Use the Peleng to boost one clerk that appears mediocre to good in both Strength and Crafty. He also shows up more than once. That will get 12 + of 15 points in the STRENGTH/CRAFTY test.
Use the Human with the Notebook to boost one Clerk mediocre in Create that looks good in Strength. He also shows up more than once.
Another thing is that the first 5 tests are randomly selected each time you start the quest. My experience is that the absolutely best order to beat is if IQ and Strength are Day 4 and Day 5. Preferable Strength in Day 5 because that will let you have at least 1 clerk with a High Create that you can do Strength training on for at least 2 nights even if you have to use him for CREATE on one of the individual Test Days.
The Faeyan will do something that seems to boost the Knowledge of EVERY Clerk but it also leaves every Clerk tired the next day. Not good when something requiring STRENGTH is the next day.
Occasionally the Be-Medaled One will help with CRAFTY. Doesn't seem to be any way to always get his help.
The Bar Flies are random though as noted, the Malog, the Human and the Peleng are likely to be there more than once.
I also made a work sheet to keep track of Clerks abilities and who needed to be trained in what and which Clerk to use for each test.
