Blue graphical artifacts all over map

I downloaded the game via Steam yesterday and it was fine to start with. After about 5 hours of play I now get blue graphical artifacts flickering all over the screen. It still works but is pretty much unplayable due to the graphical issues in DX11. I took some screenshots but I couln't find where they are saved to.

I am not sure if there was an update yesterday but I noticed that when I restarted the game after a machine reboot my settings and saved games were all gone. I had turned off the music but it had come back and the 'Load game' browser was now empty.

This should be my DxDiag.txt.

If someone wants to let me know where the screenshots get saved to then I will also try to post them.

I see the problem while running on DX11 and getting about 20FPS in the benchmark.

Using DX12 the problem is almost completly gone with just a tiny, tiny issue aroud the map edges and when the screen is scrolled. I am getting about 25FPS in the benchmark.

In case it makes a difference I have 3 monitors, 2 of which are attached to an AMD R9-380 XFX and the other to an old GeForce card. I am waiting for a HDMI-DVI cable to arrive to be able to get rid of the GeForce card. AotS is being run on a single monitor connected to the R9-380.

No, just stock settings on CPU, GPU and memory.

I have gone into the Steam folder and created two shortcuts on the desktop to Ashes_DX11.exe and Ashes_DX12.exe. Whenever I click on either of them I get two instances of the game starting up. Checking the benchmark one is running on DX11 and the other DX12. Naturally this makes starting the game very slow but I don't think this is related to the artifacts.

.. thinking about it the double instance is probably due to Steam starting one and my shortcut starting the other. I'll look into it and see if it connected to the artifacts. Is there a way to start AotS using DX12 directly through Steam?

I figured out how to get just a single instance of the game to open and not surprisingly it didn't affect the artifacts in the DX11 version.The DX12 version is still very slow to start (4-5 minutes) though compared to the DX11 version.

Let me know where Steam/AotS screenshots are saved if you want them.

I don't know if it means anything but the GPU fans are also running a lot louder than they were yesterday. I have a fan controller with a temperature sensor attached to the GPU and it is now running at 60 degrees C, yesterday I think it was at 40 degrees C. This is not a temp sensor that is inbuilt to the GPU but an external one that is sitting on an open area of the PCB.

The most up-to-date drivers from AMD are 16.2, dated 24/2/2016 so worth trying again with them.

I had this happen to me on 0.84 and the current latest version 0.90. It started with the DX12 version first then started happening with DX11. You may find it starts to happen after a game crash.

Check the integrity of the local files.

Steam Client: Library: Ashes of the Singulary (Beta): right click and select properties.
Select the 'Local Files' tab.
Click on 'Verify Integrity of Game cahche..'

After a game crash this can help.

But this doesn't always fix it, so there is an underlying problem.

System: i7-3770k, 16GB Ram, Nvidia EVGA GTX GTX980Ti Hybrid.

I have that flickering blue on the edges of the map but never seen it anywhere else. Thats been there as long as I have owned the game.

Is this what you are experiencing? I seem to get it at random, and while taking the picture. The game crashed and my nvidia drivers.

Not like that.. I had a line surrounding just the very edge of the map and for some reason its now gone since the hotfix. Maybe it is just present on certain maps.

EDIT: They appear to still be there. It must be map specific or just random bug.

yes, I do think the Main problem here, are the Stupid Video Drivers, they just suck for Ashes right now.

@JohnHusky Mine is also different to your problem. I get permenant flickering artifacts that cover about 15-20% of the map in DX11.

@Zarrex Thanks for mentioning the repair option, unfortunately it was unsuccessful for me.

I can play in DX12 without any problems.

Sometimes this can be an indicator that your graphics card is begging to physically fail - even if you aren't overclocking. If that is the case, there's a good chance you will see the problem get progressively worse. If you are able, you might try underclocking your card to see if that improves the situation.

@Vxsote1: I'm not doing any custom overclocking and my GPU is new this year. Also, I'm not having problems in any other games. The problem is specific to Ashes so it's either a software conflict with the drivers (DX12, Nvidia or Ashes) or its a problem with the maps.
