Slow/Very Slow Research setting reflected as "Civilization Ability?"

I noticed my research breakdown included -50% for something called "Civilization Ability." I had my research game setting at "Very Slow" for pacing. I like the long, slow game. Anyway, I checked with "Slow" and it changed to -25%. No problem. I assumed this was where my game options for this particular choice were reflected. My question is this: If it's referred to as "Civilization Ability," am I making the choice for the entire game, including opponents...or am I simply slowing down my civ?

I was about to ask about that modifier. I see it as +25% in my research breakdown but I've left everything on default (normal size map). Maybe it's some combination of map size and other settings?

This is in the code, 'normal' pacing has +25% research rate for some reason.

Yes, but is it for every civ, or just mine?

Wait, wait, wait... The GAME SET-UP SLIDER SETTING IS ADDITIVELY STACKING WITH IN-GAME BONUSES?

Colour me surprised. Colour me disappointed while you're at it. What the beep are the guys at SD thinking these days...

P.S. And I though that it's just a bonus given to all participants except the minors. (Which still looked crude and made me wonder why it was made to stack additively)

At the very least it affects all humans in an MP game. If it's indeed a slider setting then PROBABLY it's the same for all others as well.

Though after this revelation I'm no longer sure if common sense applies to this game. So who knows, it might not affect AI's at all for all I know. Wouldn't be any "wronger" or weirder than making it additive is.

It appears so, but that's a relatively easy fix; no need to get all worked up about it.

It's not like the devs went 'oh lets make sure this game-changing setting has the effect of adding or subtracting one low-tech research building rather than increasing or decreasing the game speed through a multiplier'  :P

Just a wrong operator in there.
