[Bug?] Research Victory Disabled -- Still angry neighbors

Like the title says, even when I disable research victory at the start of a game, the other civilizations get angry once I start researching some of the more advanced technologies. And the diplomacy penalties for this can be rather steep. Seems a bit unfair for a disabled and thus impossible to achieve victory.

Is this intentional?

hardcoded i believe, and the fact that you can alter the victory conditions midgame is why this will not change

Frankly the fact that you can change victory conditions midgame at all is extremely silly.

I do agree with that. That should only be determined at game start.

If you don't like it, then don't change it :p

Paul didn't want it either at first but people were asking for it, its basically to allow you to turn it off and continue playing if your about to win.

Diplo is pretty ridiculous at the moment.

Apparently total war is a foregone conclusion.

"We come in peace, we mean you no harm, and you all will die."

I'd much rather it be removed so diplomacy/AI can properly take into account what victory conditions are possible. It's not even needed for the reason you listed right now, there's a continue playing button already in the victory window!
