Elemental Fallen Enchantress / Legendary Heroes - the Soundtrack

Greetings Elemental players - I have been following this game closely (reading up on the patch news, updates, dev thoughts, etc.) for a little over a year now, and am looking to purchase it in the near future.

One of the aspects I value most in video games I buy is the soundtrack. Sins of a Solar Empire and Rebellion have fantastic soundtracks that set the atmosphere of the game perfectly - the same goes for the last three Elder Scrolls games, both of the recent Fallout titles, Dishonored, Supreme Commander, the entire Halo series... you get the picture. But I have had immense trouble finding any information whatsoever on the soundtrack to Elemental. There was a soundtrack CD included with the collector's edition of War of Magic which is now on Grooveshark, but I keep wondering if that is the entire soundtrack. Have there been any additions in Fallen Enchantress, Legendary Heroes, or any of the DLC?

Evidently the soundtrack is composed by a Mason Fisher.

Some reviews mention the soundtrack, but only for a total of about a sentence and it usually goes something like this: "The soundtrack is a dismal kind of Renaissance elevator music that only rarely transitions to anything like excitement during wartime." That is a direct quote.

If anyone knows any information regarding the soundtrack - what does it sound like throughout the game (does that sentence above really say all that needs to be said?), if there were any new songs added in the expansion packs, or any other insights that there are to give about the soundtrack of Elemental, any help would be fantastic.

He also made (part of) the music in GalCiv 2, and is working on the soundtrack for GalCiv 3 now (along with Geoff Knorr and Richard Gibbs).

I don't think it's that bad. It's good ambient music. The part about the war music, however, is true. Overall though, I still prefer Fisher's work from GalCiv 2.

They've added several new pieces by Geoff Knorr in FE. Those really bring home the "epic" missing in the original soundtrack. The war music actual sounds like war music now. If you look for Let's plays on YouTube and Twitch.tv, you might hear some of the new music in the background.

I'm not sure about LH, but I don't think, that the DLC added anything new.

Music in Legendary Heroes is fine. It doesn't irritate after 100 hours of playing, and that's all I really ask for. The only game I can really remember the music making an impact on me other than either just providing background or irritating the hell out of me was in Civ IV. But they cheated somewhat by using existing classical pieces.

Would love more tracks to listen to. Having triggered event music would be really cool.

I also love game sound tracks. For Elemental all the music tracks are in Layered Music folder.  It's not hidden away in a encrypted archive like some other games. Although, I don't blame you if you want a partially remixed version that many game studios release for their other titles.

Wow! My thanks goes out to everybody who replied here - I never knew the soundtrack was layered. That makes it very interesting. Nor did I know that there was new music added in FE. I searched so long to find any new music from the expansion packs but could only find one song on YouTube. But I am glad to know that the soundtrack is up to par with the rest of the game. Consider my questions answered.
