Oculus Animations...Not so good

Right now they seem a bit lacking, I hope he's not quite done. He just seems very rigid. Like he's not really alive like the other Demigods. When the Demon Assassin is standing still he moves and breaths, Oculus just sits there like a statue. The same goes with is death animation. Just goes limp and his staff falls and clips through his throne. Even when he moves around it feels clumsy. Heck they could have at least made his pyramid/throne slowly float up and down a bit to give it a sense of depth. Demon Assassin lives up to the quality as the other Demigods, so far Oculus does not. I hope the art team is still hard at work adding more flare to Oculus and they jsut released this version quick because they are a little "behind".

I agree. It looks way too static right now.

Sometimes he also randomly bumps up and down, which looks rather silly.

I play using the lowest settings and the first thing i noticed wasn't the animation but how bland that floating pyramid he sits on looks. It's not really a bother but did surprise me.

I for one like him especially on the floating pyrimidand maybe his death couuld be changed but we dont play to see a demigod swing his arm. If you say that than you might as well say just about every ranged demigod is the same.

My personal problem with the animation is his strange bobbing up and down when he's auto attacking. It looks as if his entire throne is on a faulty piston attached to the ground. Other than that, because his throne isn't supposed to be movable, when he turns around fast, it looks awkward. Can't be helped I suppose.

The chair just looks really plain and square...and is very large. To me he just looks likes a big floating chair.

I dont care though - its a new Demigod :)

Yeah I don't like that either. The concept is great, but I think the giant floating throne doesn't fit well into the gameplay and physics.

So true, it's not like I don't appreciate the new content, it's just a shame that the last Demigod seems to have gotten a rushed second rate treatment. And it just becomes more obvious the more I play with the Demon Assassin. That guy is just gorgeous. After seeing the beauty that is the DA's death animation I thought when Oculus died it must have been a glitch/bug it was so bad.

My main issue with him is that his lack of channeling animation makes it a bitch to try to catch his cap locks and potions.

Speaking of channeling animations, the Demon Assassin's channeling animation is a little awkward too. His hands just moves around like he's playfully crumpling some paper very fast. That's ok on it's own, but it looks rather dangerous when he's doing that while have his weapon, which has spikes coming of of its hand guard, in his hand all the time while he's doing it. :P

I agree DA looks fantastic.

 

Oculus looks like they've taken a nice model and he's being moved around like a plastic toy soldier.  When he slams the ground it looks bad, the whole way he is animated feels rush job and I guessed it was because he wasn't finished.

@SyDaemon: I 100% agree with you. I think they should slow down that animation just a little bit... unless the use of cocaine is being condoned  x_x  . They could add that into his lines: "Anyone want to party?"

Agreed. Oculus looks great in concept art and fine in-game as a static entity. But his chair-bob animation is embarrassing. The way I'd put it is that he looks like he's playing with himself. Ungood.

They just need to add an animation of king leonidas popping out of nowhere and then throwing a spear at him. 

But, don't hold up his release to clean up his animations !

In fact, I think DA is sub par.  His sword is paper thin, looks goofy as he turns. 

 

But I'm onboard with the "free content" thing.  Don't look a gift goat in the mouth and all that.  The original DGs have awesome voices, comments, animations.  The new ones do only 1 animation, have few comments, and don't move so well (DA floats, OC is in a frozen position).

 

I wonder if they'd accept user content?  Let some dedicated DG player create the models, animations, etc.  Maybe even find a way to get good voices.  Then GPG could check for quality and balance and send it out.  Player gets an award or a free GPG game or something.  Everyone is happy :)
