ok i know that somewhere in the infinite number of posts that come up...

someone has already answered this question but after wading thru tons of posts i can't find the answer.how does one go about cut n pasting capital ship abilities from entrenchment  and adding them to a mod?i assume it shouldn't be too hard once i have identified which files/strings i need to copy?

cloak,

the first step is to make a set of reference files for the version of sins/entrenchment that you have by copying you sins/entrenchment folder to another path then downloading one of the convertdata gui's like dekanrics or mine,

2 converting the copy to txt mode (btw the convertdata_original sins.exe fails to convert 3 tech capital ships in 1.16/1.17 but the only significant differences between 1.15 & 1.17 are numbers, so you could use the forge tools version),

3 open the CAPITALSHIP_racetype.entity files, & find the ability name(s) that you want to alter,

4 then copy these to the mod's folder and

5make the changes to them and

6 test the mod in entrenchment

ok so i convert the mod files to txt and then convert what file from sins to txt...the entity.manifest?

the manifests ARE text, I recommend converting the entire game files, especially the ENTITY files as they are the main files to be changed in mods.
