Stars and denying travel between them

Hello all!

I've read through many pages (18 pages in the beginners thread and now about 10 pages of thread titles) and have yet to find anyone asking this question so here is a bit of explanation before the question.  I've got 6 star systems around a main, central star system.  A wormhole connects each of the six outer systems to the middle system.  Each outer system has phase lines between their respective Stars and planets.

The problem... after a faction researches "Distant Jumps" or something, they can jump out of their own system's star and into ANY of the other systems (be it the middle system or the other outer systems).

The question... is there a way to disable / edit the star's property (without creating or using a mod) to deny travel between the stars so that there is only one way into and out of the outer systems?

Obviously, I could remove the phase lines to the stars, thus eliminating the star completely from the formula but I'd like to pursue other options first.

DONT USE WORMHOLE!

Its a two way travel so once I jump through hole to the central star I can immediately reclick on the hole and itll send me to one of your 6 stars!!!

Hers what I would suggest... your central star has 6 planets around him each being a wormhole to a corersponding star system of eahc player. Now ini order to limit fast travel to other systems, you separate the wormholes from your central star by 2 planetary bodies.

IE. Like this (for one of 6 branches)

STAR <--------------> DA (Dead asteroid to mount defence) <-------------> Random colonisable <--------> Wormhole to starting star system! 

That you limit but not extinguish your issue!

or why not just disable the jump to distant star but enable wormholes travelling?

Thanks for the quick reply Shadow but I obviously left out some details...  For simplification, I've taken a screen shot of my galaxy so you can see what I'm talking about...

You could just remove all phase lines linking to stars. In other words, remove any phase line that connects a planet/asteroid/plasma storm/etc. to a star.

Granted that my idea wont prevent the other factions from jumping from star to star, but it will eliminate them from traveling further beyond that point. Basically this will make the stars a dead end.

Since the stars will be a dead end, the other factions will be forced to use wormholes in order to travel from planet to planet in that star's region.

The other factions will still be able to jump to stars, but they will have to turn around and find another direction path since there won't be any phase lines connected to the star.

Thanks Mab for the idea but I'm trying to consider that "Option Z: A Last Resort."  If all else fails, I'll remove the phase lines from the Stars and include a pirate map in each outter system (Yeah, I forgot to include one at all!).

I'm still trying to find out what dchan was talking about because that'd be the ideal solution...  comeon dchan... stumble across my thread again!

I believe if you remove the RESEARCHSUBJECT_HYPERSPACE_GALAXYTRAVELTECH.entity for tech will remove hyperspace galaxy travel, I suspect that if you look for the same one for the other 2 races you could remove it in the game folder and it will disable it

edit: for the other 2 races RESEARCHSUBJECT_HYPERSPACE_GALAXYTRAVELPSI.entity and RESEARCHSUBJECT_HYPERSPACE_GALAXYTRAVELPHASE.entity

Thanks for the post DChan but that sure looks more like a mod to the game rather than just a map or star properties edit.  Is this true? I was hoping to not require players to activate a mod just for my little ol' map.

well you could make it all in one system, only allowing phase lines from wormholes to wormhole

Wormholes are currently the only way we know of doing it. We may change this after Entrenchment is done.

Yarg!  Thanks for the clarification... I'm putting in pirate bases and removing the lanes to/from the stars.  Like I said, I'll post a link to the map once I update it for 1.14.
