Hey, want to help me out with my assignment?

Little anthropology for ya'll.

Hey guys, how's it going?

First article in a while and I'm in need of some assistance.

My anthropology professor has assigned an interesting paper for me.  I have to write about an outsider's opinions on US culture.  The only requirements are that A.) You must have origins in another culture(you don't consider yourself as being raised 'American') and B.) You've been to the US long enough to get a decent feel for the culture(Note: You don't actually have to be a resident, just have experience with the US).

I have a list of questions I can send...so it's more like a survey.  The basic structure is stuff about the 'pre-trip' stage(before you decided to come), the arrival and initial difficulties or 'shock', some experiences, and a wrap up where there's some conclusion stuff.

I also need Name, age, gender, first language, occupation, home(city, not a specific address) and when you arrived in the US.  And that info won't be solicited or sold or anything...I'm just writing a paper, nothing more.

So anyone on JU willing to help a guy out?

Leauki comes to mind here, though I don't know if he's ever been to the US.

I haven't.

But I have lived under American rule, walked around American military installations, and generally did hang out in the American neighbourhoods in Berlin.

I am probably too extreme, not normal enough.

(Also, I wouldn't know what to say re first language. "German" doesn't quite cut it as I usually translate what I hear in German into English.)

I would always help Zoo out, of course! He's one of my favourite posters (especially since he knows much stuff I don't know).

Shaun, glad to help, send to me care of the PM system or email me my moniker two thousand three at yahoo dot com.  Sounds like an interesting project!

Awesome, thanks. :D

I'll hit you up in a day or so.  Things are a tad chaotic at the moment...have another paper I need to do some research on and a genetics exam in about an hour.  *sigh*  Higher education...so stressful. :P

Weather has been terrible here for the last few days. Both my manager and my team colleague are staying at home because it takes too long to get anywhere. I am in the office because I live in the city.

Just saying...

(I know this is totally off-topic, but I wanted to tell someone.)

If you would like a Canadian perspective... you can email me.

I've also lived overseas for a while so when I go to the U.S. or Canada, sometimes I get reverse culture shock.

You should write the White House and ask Obama, sounds like he meets the criteria

Hey Zoo,

While I've not actually lived in America, I do have a pretty good grasp of the cultural differences between it and the rest of the world.  I've also lived in a predominantly American community while I was in the services.  I don't know whether this makes me qualified enough to do the survey but I'd be happy to help out.

Incidentally, it is good to see you mate.

Damn, guys.  I wish I could write more of these.  Didn't know you'd all be so eager to help out. :D

I'll take FS up on her offer since she responded first. (I'll try and get around to emailing you around Friday, by the way.)

Not fun here, either.  I hate walking in this snow and ice crap.

How's school?

Eh, it's going well...though it's still annoying for the most part.  Doing stuff is always annoying. :P

Likewise, mate. :)

And for the record, you guys are awesome. :D
