I'm Pinned Down!!! Help!

K, here goes. I've gotten 4 planets(one star system). Theres 3 other star systems out there. I'm stuck right now, because the AI factions are launching attack after attack on my system. I'm freaking out because I'm sending one fleet to "this" planet, and another fleet to "that" planet just to keep up with the attacks and back up other fleets.

I'm afraid to build a new fleet and send it to another star system, because I feel that I will need whatever ships I create just to defend these attacks! What should I do? Dedicate one planet to building a massive armada, and pump out a few ships here and there at my other planets for sporadic defense?

Anyone in a similar bind? Losing planets in this game is absolutely heartbreaking, to the point of sheer panic that you will lose them, because you put so much work and dedication into them. This game is incredible. Any tips for my dilemma?

oh and let me add, I have spent 40 hours on capturing, and building up my star system(4 planets). Since launch day. lol.

If you want to expand to another star system, but can't really spare the resources I'd recommend building whatever capital ship has colonize for your faction and sending it there on its own.

Make sure your systems all have maxed out tactical slots and defenses, it should deter the AI from attacking you as often and it will be cheap to do given that you are defending just four key planets.

Consider splitting your fleet up if it feels like the AI is everywhere. If the AI retreats immediately when your fleet jumps in then you can probably split it up a bit.

Pick a different map. I never pick those ones where your systems are wide open without chokepoints. Seems like the rule there would be expand or die.

EASY. and i was WAY OFF ON THE TIME> i'm at 25 hours gameplay. way off. sorry. lol.

this is rediculous, they are just comin in simultaneously at all my planets from the star in the center. i've now slapped a HUGE bounty on those terak bastards, hopefully the pirates will attack them and i will get a rest from thier attacks to build up again. and the solundi are reletnlessly attacking me at the same time.

here's a view of my system. all my fleets have been wiped out, and all my planets are undersiege at all times. i have slapped a huge bounty on the seraks, countdown is about 8min. hopefully they will let up for a bit when distracted by pirate attacks.

for now, it's a stalemate, delaying the inevitable by producing a couple ships here and there at each planet jsut to try and slow them all down. for some reason, metal is very hard to come by. i've upgraded all my cargo holds and metal extracting to max. also credits have taken a nosedive. if anyone has a solution to getting metal and credits faster, let me know. is it cause i just lost those two planets?
