Question on planetary moral improvements.

I have read a few places where people have said that as a rule of thumb, a planet should have 2 moral improvements for each farm, to keep the people happy. My question is, WHICH improvement is that refering to? I mean if i build 2 entertainment networks and one farm and I'm ok, then wouldnt i need just 1 Galactic Stadium to have the same effect? Or will 2 stadiums mean that i can have 2 farms OR that i can upgrade the farms and stay even?

Personally I don't build ANY morale improvements other than the global ones like Harmony Crystals, Ultra Spices, etc., but to answer your question, I don't think which improvement matters so much as it does the fact that you're tying up two planet tiles. Usually you want to build the latest morale improvement you have researched.

What's going on is, your morale goes down as your population goes up. But at the same time you're researching Xeno Entertainment, Extreme Entertainment, Zero G, Virtual Reality. So what you do is, you keep upgrading those morale improvements as your population goes up, to balance it out. It's just a rule of thumb. Like I said, I personally don't follow it myself.

ok, but if i build 1 farm, my population cap will be about 10B. so 2 entertainment centers will keep the peeps happy. So for the same population would 1 later improvment, like the stadium, do the same job as 2 earlier ones?

And it takes time to research to and then to build those Global Civ ones. What do you do in the mean time? I mean i see why you dont want to use up valuable tiles. I really dont want to have to build anything to improve moral isf i can have another factory or bank. Imean they have ME as their Emperor, what else do they need?

First off, it's morale, not moral.

Anyway, I usually build 2 per planet no matter what. If I have a farm there then it really helps out, but if I don't it still raises it, and I can raise my taxes. And later you might upgrade your farms, so don't start building one morale building after some research.

No not for the same population. The presumption is that your population is growing the whole time. So your population may be around 6b when you have 2 ent. centers, 10b when you have multimedia, 12b (and an upgraded farm) when you have stadia, etc..

Early on you can just rely on your racial bonuses and lower your taxes. You don't have that much population anyway at start; lowering your taxes then doesn't cost that much. Xeno Entertainment and Xeno Ethics (if you choose Neutral or build Harmony Crystals) give big bumps to morale.

Building constructors to milk those yellow mining resources is good--for the price of 1 entertainment center on 3 different planets, you can instead build one constructor and bump up morale by the same amount on ALL your planets. With that kind of deal, why even think of building morale improvements until all your starbases are maxed out? And even then--research Xeno Factory Construction and build another constructor! Get another 5% global bonus.

Generally when someone refers to the number of morale improvements needed to keep a certain number of farms worth of people happy, they're referring to the top-end buildings of each type.

I always assumed this rule meant two morale buildings for each farm of the same level. So two entertainment networks is enough for one basic farm, but you need two virtual reality centers for each intensive farm. Personally, I prefer a 1:1 ratio, but I don't build many farms or upgrade them quickly.
