Some Ideas i have been pondering about

first of all excuse my english!

Here are some ideas that for any GalCiv sequal/expansion pack that i think are unique and have not been posted on the forums.

Vassal States

Making it possible to allow minor races to join your empire and still have independence. Only minor civs could become vassals, through capitalation? or through peacfull means (they ask to join without war). With this you would have access to unique diplomacy with them (not sure what but you get the picture). Also you can give them back independence after 2 years or something. You could mingle for hours with this feature.

Unique Weapons/Buildings/Hulls/Defense

It would be cool to see every race, with unique buildings (only one a planet) and weapons and STUFF! like the Torians having a cloning sector which increases population growth, or the drengin with brown noise phasors! etc. Each would have to be at the end of the approriate tech branch and it would have to keep the game balanced!

Now some ideas i have seen that i agree with

Mega Events

They would be so cool! having a race from another galaxy threaten all lifeb within ours and we have to unite and defeat them! The possibilities are endless with this feature.

Artificual WormHoles

Like starbases that are like stargates! you can dial another gate built somewhere and send ships through! To keep it balanced though i don't think it would be added to the game! But you could ballance it!

Forgive me

Carriers

Yes thats right, BUT i think they shouldn't allow you to build small and tiny vessels and load them on! TAHT WOULD BE WRONG it could be a defense module, OR COULD JUST BE THERE TO MAKE THE FLEET BATTLES LOOK COOLER

I have got more but i don't think people are going to read it all!

This could be similar to the Antarans in MoO2, that would occasionally drop by and kick the crap out of some unfortunate race with their uber-fleets. On the negative side, however, people may get annoyed at randomly having the crap kicked out of them by an uber-fleet.

maybe you could disable/enable them!

Yes yes very annoying indeed.

I already get this annoying feeling when I'm happily compulsively micromanaging all my planets to get flattering comments from random inhabitants of those planets, and thinking of interesting unique names for particular ships which did more than reasonably well in a previous war, when suddenly.. EVENT your friend will grow magically stronger each turn, so you will have to destroy him NOW .. or blah, blah, political assasination, this faction, which is slightly stronger than you, is now your worst enemy.. of course you'll defeat him, but it will take many turns..

However, for some reason, I would not turn off the random events, even if I could.

Vassals- yes
Unique buildings- sounds good
Unique ships and parts- yes yes yes!!!!! does it make sense to anyone that the evil Yor and the from some far off place Thalans have the same ship design
Wormholes- depends, would need some balanceing or like the anomilies with the temporary natural wormholes, just make them permanant

I think vassals are a great idea, and I don't think I've ever seen it before. That way some diplomatic civilization can become a superpower by integrating civilizations with high quality planets. It might be a bit hard to implement, however, as a vassal that still has independence is basically a very close ally. This means that they can still revolt, have a leader assassinated, etc. The system would need a little tweaking to work properly, but it is a good idea.

As for the other suggestions, I could care less, but I'd probably implement them if they were to present themselves.

Civilization's Warlords has a vassal states, in fact.

Warlords expansion introduces a new diplomatic option called Vassal State. Vassal states is like an "asymmetric alliance." Basically, one civilization serves as the master in the relationship and collects tribute from the weaker, vassal nation.

There are two ways to acquire a vassal state:

During peacetime, after discovering Feudalism, a civilization may voluntarily become a vassal. The vassal (NOT the master) is given the option to renew the relationship after 10 turns.
A vassal relationship that arises during wartime is referred to as Capitulation. It differs from the peacetime arrangement in that the vassal can't break the relationship unless a) it grows to more than half the size (land and population) of the master or b) loses more than half the territory it owned at the time the agreement was created.
There are some notable benefits to being a master:
The master enjoys complete freedom of movement in the vassal's territory, including the ability to heal normally in the vassal's territory and use fortifications owned by the vassal. The master can also investiage any vassal city.
The master can demand any resource from a vassal, even those that the vassal is using. The vassal has the right to refuse the demand but if they do they two states are immediately at war.
The master's people enjoy increased happiness. Those in the vassal empire suffer decreased happiness.
The vassal can't make war or peace on its own. It immediately adopts the master's war and peace relationships.
Half of the vassal's territory and population count towards the master's domination victory AND score.
Some costs of vassal agreements include:

Having vassal cities will incur higher maintenance cost for your own cities.
Other civs may like you a little less when you have a vassal.

I would like to see wormholes , artificial or natural, stay after they had been used so other ships could use them, maybe only one way? Possibly with the need to add some attachment to ships before they could use them.

For mega events, how about if all of the civ's homeworlds or the top 10 planets blew up? I would like to see how people would deal with that.

Vassales is also a good idea, but I won't go into that any further.

Mega events will be in DA, including the Dread Lords entering the game as a major race.
