Please help! :( Getting a previously designed ship in a current game?

I spent four hours straight this evening making my first capital ship, and after creating it and starting it building, my game crashed on the next turn when some damn event occurred regarding finding some corvettes.

When I went to reload, my save game was four hours ago (I thought I had saved right after I finished, but maybe I didn't). I checked my documents folder and my ship design is still there. But when I load my save game, it was before I designed the ship, so it isn't there.

Is there any way to make my ship design reappear in my save game, without having to redesign it within the game? Currently I feel disheartened enough to give up on Gal Civ completely...

You should jsut have to re-research the technologies to get the design, and it will (should) show up in your current game.

Thanks for the reply, but there was nothing to research. I mean everything was researched, I saved the game, I made the ship, then the game crashed on the next turn, and when I reloaded, the ship was gone! If I start a new game the ship design reappears (once I have the tech/battle of the gods mode). Oh well, at least I was almost done with that game, and I might leave the ship design for my next game...
