How do you make a portrait?

I have a jpeg image I would like to use for my race portrait. Can someone please tell me or direct me where I can learn how to do this? Thank you.

The best way is to copy the picture, go to program files/stardock/totalgaming/galciv2/gfx/race
Then, pick any of the old images, and open it for editing. Paste your .jpeg image on the top, and shrink it down to be the same size as the original. Save it under RaceImage# (ie RaceImage60) as a .png, and it will show up in portrait selection.

For something as simple as cutting it to size or shrinking , and saving it as a png, I just use IrfanView (it's free). Make the picture 256x256, name it RaceImage__Something, save as a png, drop it in program files/stardock/totalgaming/galciv2/gfx/race, and you're done. Logos are 128x128. If you want to do more, get the GIMP. It's a decent opensource picture editor.
