How to lose the game in one easy click

To Surrender or not to Surrender

This definately counts as a bug in my mind.. was playing a beginner game on big map, at one point some little native race pops up and tells me they are claiming a system and I better not mess with them.. so silly mne, I look over to the side and see "Surrender"... great I'll demand they surrender. click it, Send.. blooie.. I slowly realize I just freaking surrendered to them.

No prompt popping up to ask If I really wanted to surrender. Come on Star Dock.. give me a break, every other thing comes with a verify prompt, put a darn check in there for people who occasionally click one thing but mean another.

Uhhh, well now you know what it does it isn't going to be a problem anymore is it?

And of course it isn't a bug. Don't be silly. A bug is when something does something it isn't meant to do, not when something doesn't do what you'd think it would do.

I always thought having surrender there is a bit silly... At no point would that ever be useful to the user, as they would instantly lose. And who wants to do that? (Except for the AI of course).

It's not a bug, it's user error. You have an autosave feature for this very circumstance!! But they could, as smackle says, just take the option away as you can always press Escape anyway.

I did the same . Would be nice to have an option where you actually ask them to surrend to you.

Click surrender on the right (their tab) instead?

An undo button would be also nice, how often did I send a colony ship just too far only to see the AI colonize it the next turn. (although it did save me from having a planet conquered by the Dread Lords).

There is no surrender option on the right side. I think there should be, especially if you have your foot on their throat.........

Options on the left are always something that you GIVE, also, read the prompts when you do something like that.

The surrender button is utterly useless. If you want to resign, then resign. That button cost me about 45 minutes when I first made that mistake, before the first patch.

If you've played the game and haven't fiddled with the default settings, you could always have reverted to an Auto Save game. Unless it takes you 30 minutes to do a single turn.

Yeah completely agree WHY the frack would you surrender just quit, no score is kept. I also think a demand surrender button is needed, many a time I just wanted to say OOOOOOIIIIIEEEE yellow space slug surrender now or I'll start salting your Homeworld!

I like the idea of an undo, or something like I've seen in other TBS games where they keep the last few turns as saved games. It would help to avoid dumb mistakes that are helped along by the often dysfunctional game behaviour. Some things that I've done that I wished I could undo back to the last turn:

- Yes, I've also surrendered my game accidentally. I think people are right, there's no reason for this option to exist.
- Accidentally "upgraded" all my Battleships to Troop Transports (or was it Constructors?). The game really has to be smarter about ship roles here.
- Gleefully accepted the law that taxes foreign starbases, only to find out that it's bugged and taxes me instead. Instantly sets you on the path to what could be an unrecoverable loss.
