Should Military Resources be Nerfed?

Hey, I love it when I find them, but I think they are a bit over powered. A fully developed resource can triple or quadruple the attack rates of a ship. Thus, if you drop a quadrupled-power fleet on the resource as a guard, you are pretty much guaranteed you will never lose it, so the resource in a sense provides its own defence, unlike other resources.

Besides, imagine the frustration if you are going toe to toe with a race, and suddenly his ships are all quadrupled in power, AND you don't know WHERE the military resource is to destroy. Its pretty much an instant-lose situation, don't you think?

They seem fine to me. Yes they are powerful, but so are all the other resources. They are just as vital to get and hold as planets.

Military Resource needs to be nerfed i would think, i owned two of them, take a guess if i won the game lol.

Influence Resource and Influence OVERALL needs to be changed per map size.

At most, I'd say that the AI needs to do a better job of targetting mining starbases when they are at war. Then again, I'm still at normal, so I don't know if the AI does this on intelligent.

No. They're just fine where there at, thank you very much.

All I am saying is that unlike other resources, if you drop a fleet on a fully developed military resource it CAN'T be taken out

I totally agree, this is one of the few things about the game that annoys the hell out of me.I'd either get rid of them or tone them down.

I would love to hear counterarguments on how holding a fully developed military resource is not a guaranteed win. Especially from a developer.

I still like military resources, but maybe it could be expressed in a way that doesn't seem so overpowering, like increasing logistic ability or maybe reducing military costs, or increasing military production or something like that.

Of course its likely that any such changes would need the AI to be adjusted which is never an easy task (I am assuming)

Maybe the AI should be adjusted so that they would take advantage of the military sources more.

While a fully developed millitary source with one fleet on it would be guaranteed invincible, you are still vulnerable while building it up. If the AI attakcs you before you build it up or you spend too much effort building it up and ruin your economy, then it wouldn't be a guaranteed win.

Same goes for any starbase. For any starbase, especially resource ones, that are on borders or could be attacked I'll upgarde to at least level 1 battlestations, a couple +5 defenses (depending on what the other Civs have) and at least the devestation beam (+7 attack) or the missles upgrade. There is nothing special about the military resource that makes it's starbase any harder to take out then any other one. It's all how you upgrade them.

A fully developed resource can triple or quadruple the attack

Uh, no. Not even close. To triple your attack factors, you'd need about three fully developed military resources. To quadruple, more like five.

Resources are fine, thanks.
