You know, I just tried to play GalCiv 1 demo and it's a hard game! I followed the basic walkthrough and at the end of it I was like "no! don’t leave me now... help!" The walkthrough basically gives you the first several moves and rest is left up to you to figure out. I would imagine that all of you veterans are laughing at me about right now, but its like this... the game is information intensive and doesn’t lend itself very well to new players just trying to figure things out.
I know that GalCiv2 is going to have lots of walkthroughs and video help and I for one am very pleased and thankful. GalCiv 1 should have had the same thing IMO. This game has such depth that you feel as though you will never understand the entire strategy and all that that implies. The new player feels overwhelmed by the depth of it all, and GalCiv2 is gonna be even deeper and bigger. AHHHHHHH !! lol
I hope that all you beta veterans and GalCiv 1 players stick around these forums to help us newbie’s with the deep nuances of the game. I have tried to read the manual for GalCiv 2 and to be honest, I am not sure what I am reading most of the time. I mean it appears to be well made but since I have never played it, its a little confusing. When I get the game I am one of those types that like to jump right in but I have a feeling that I am gonna have to set the game aside and read a whole bunch before I even attempt to play lol.
I guess this is a testament of the hard work and effort by the developers that they made such an interesting deeply involving game!
I am really looking forward to losing myself to the game for the foreseeable future
