I think this is already mentioned but I thought I would sum up a couple of observations about the UI.
- The planet name plates are very large and do conceal other planets, asteroids, anomalies ect. either reducing their size or adding a transparency would be nice.
- once you get your empire rolling you can have too many resources to display on the top bar. There is an arrow to scroll right, but once you have scrolled right a new arrow to scroll back does not appear. Maybe having the option to scroll back without reloading the game would be good. being able to select which resources you keep track of and having the bar open a new window with all the resources you are gathering,. or simply having the icons scale down to fit all the resources at once would be great.
- I think that if you use your last resource of a certain type it disappears from the tracker, even if you are producing it somewhere. I think in GalCiv 3 this was not the case. it would show 0 available and you could mouse over it to show where you were producing it.
- in the summary window the Balance of Power scales off the visible area, if you are not in the top 3 or 4 known races you can't tell how you stack up.
- notifications and quests windows - was it always intended that you mouse over the icon to get details or should there be a summary next to the icon? Also I am not sure if I hit a hotkey or somehow otherwise removed the quest icons but in late game they have disappeared and I only have notifications now.
- planets summary screen, this is very handy for me and the small changes from 3 to 4 are great. because of the new core worlds system it would be nice if there was also a "recommended core worlds" section maybe you can set a threshold for your preferred playstyle. but an area that would show all planets worth managing (assigning a governor to) say over class 7 or 10. this could be a subsection of colonies and uncolonized planets both. however if that is a bigger ask than it sounds maybe a way to highlight planets above a certain class. Or even sort by class. On the bigger maps these lists can get very long.
Overall I think the new UI is very nice.
