Just seeing if anyone else has this issue. I keep my main gaming machine on the release ring of Windows 10 so it's not anything catastrophic (in a first-world-problems way), but my laptop and another computer I run with the Windows 10 fast ring updates. Since the last build (16193.1001) and the most recent GC3 beta update GC3 will not launch at all. No errors, no crashes--- the Launcher comes up, I click Play and then... nothing. I don't use any mods at all. I've done these troubleshooting steps on both computers with no results, rebooting between steps:
1. Ran the file check audit several times. Every time it runs it finds one file and re-downloads it, but still no go. If I run the check again it always finds one offending file, but I don't know where to look to see what the file actually is that gets downloaded.
2. Deleted the Stardock folder in the user profile\local folder as well as the GalCiv3 and GC3Crusade folders from the Documents folder.
3. Uninstalled the game, cleaned up leftover directories, and reinstalled (not opting into the beta at first) with the same results. Went ahead and opted into the beta and still no bueno.
4. Tried manually running some executables (GC3Base.exe and GC3Crusade.exe) but all they do is trigger a Windows popup saying 'This app can't run on your pc/To find a version for your pc, check with the software publisher'.
I don't think it's a blocked permissions/run as administrator issue because my Steam folder is on a separate SSD exclusively used for games so it's not in any Program Files data path, and I have UAC disabled anyway.
If anyone else has run across this and has a fix I'm all ears. I haven't had a chance to play GC3 on my main machine at home yet, but the only change there will be the GC3 beta update.
