Observation Questions:
So I have been working on my custom race mod, including a complete tech tree and set of improvements. That said, I wanted to see how the AI was playing the custom race.
Question 1) Is there a way to set your race's AI difficulty level in game?
Up against gifted opponents, my custom race underperforms by a substantial margin (when observing using the soak command)... So far, I've only observed my race at the same level as the AI opponents if it is one of the AI opponents, which makes it more difficult to assess its behavior.
Question 2) If the answer to Question 1 is no, then is there a way to switch races or view the information about an AI race, such as their planets and/or tech tree?
Observation:
The AI seem far too unconcerned about resources once they are discovered, building starbases with available constructors near planets instead of heading straight for the resources they know of. It seems to me that upon discovering relics or ascension crystals, the AI should beeline for those important resources. This is particularly important if those resources are within the race's ZOC.
I watched my race during a soak ignore an ascension crystal that was maybe 10-15 hexes from its homeworld (but within its ZOC) and build three starbases around the homeworld. Another faction got the ascension crystal...
I haven't said this recently: Dev Team--great job!! After a long day of work, playing GalCivIII (or watching the AI play) is often just what the doctor ordered. The game has really become something quite remarkable.
Thanks!
