Some of the original research subject names can be unnecessarily fancy and ambiguous, and after months of on-and-off playing I am still confused when I saw "Shockwave Pulverization research complete."
The Mini-Mod gives some research items simpler/more intuitive names, especially for techs that are part of a series. For example, laser techs are changed to Laser I to Laser III, and fleet supply techs to Fleet Logistics I to Fleet Logistics VIII. The original, more flavourful names are moved to the tech descriptions, such that they are still available for reading.
Hopefully this mod will make the tech tree easier to understand and remember for casual players and vets alike.
Summary:
- Focus is on techs that are part of a series, and those that are generic to all factions (weapons, hulls, shields, mining, max population, etc.).
- Some other more cryptic ones (eg. "Highly Conductive Rails") are also renamed (eg. to "Gauss Cannon Range").
- Techs that unlocks ability are left alone, before they share the same name as the abilities being unlocked.
