What does duration on Coronata's Repossession mean?

So, I'm a bit confused... as usual... what does the duration on Coronata's Repossession mean?  does it go back to the original owners control after that time expires?  If so, does that mean it's pointless to spend money on upgrades for it?  Can you stop it switching back? Also, when how does it work with the previous owners upgrades?  Do they get money back for them or do they remain "there" when it's returned? Etc.

 

- Repossession  ***
Antimatter cost - 200 / 175
Cooldown time - 300
Range - 4000
Duration - 360 / 480
Cost Reduction - 0% / 33%
"Flips" an enemy planet to your control instantly.  The population, health, and upgrades for the planet all reset to their initial values (i.e. like it was just colonized).  On level 2, this ability also gives a cost reduction for planet upgrades.

I think the duration is for the cost reduction, but it IS written very ambiguously, as if to suggest the planet reverts back to its original owner after that amount of time.

The duration is how long the effect and the cost reduction last....in many cases, the duration of a buff with an instant action is really just how long the effect is supposed to last...

Oh, i see.  So it's the duration of the cost reduction buff.  That makes sense.  So what happens to the previous owner?  Does he lose whatever he spent on planet upgrades?

Well unfortunately, the upgrades don't transfer when you use repossession, so yeah, even if he gets the planet back using repossession they're gone for good.
