I'm enjoying this game (admittedly, I wish the civilization-building aspects were better), but I'm really struggling to figure out the controls. Why are so many things not documented? Or is it just that I'm missing them somewhere?
Right now, I'm trying to figure out how to combine two groups of units on the same tile, without moving one group off the tile and then back on it again. Can someone help me with that? I thought I saw someone do it in a YouTube video, but I couldn't see how.
But I also had to search the forum here to find out how to rotate the camera. (Hold down the middle mouse button - the scrollwheel, for me - or press 1 or 2 on the keyboard.) My camera view somehow set itself to straight north, instead of the default, and no changing of that "snapback" feature in advanced options would fix it. As it turned out, I just had to press 1 on the keyboard. But if that's documented anywhere, I couldn't find it.
Likewise, I learned from watching a YouTube video that Ctrl-N would give me a new start location, if I didn't like the first location when I start the game. As far as I can tell, that's not documented anywhere, either. Why not?
Oh, as long as I'm asking, is there any way to decrease the amount of mountain terrain in random maps? I hate to play for hours, then discover I'm trapped in an untenable location. Frankly, I don't know why my civilization can't use the oceans for anything, apparently, or why, with all their magical power, our champions can't figure out a way to fly over a mountain, level it, build a road up it, or tunnel through it (preferably all three).
OK, OK, I realize that this is just a strategy game, not also an RPG or civilization-builder. From my point of view, that's a real shame. But it's still fun.
