I am currently downloading Fallen Enchantress and look forward to giving it a try. I am doing this because I received an email from Brad Wardell reminding me that I bought the Elemental game TWO YEARS ago. After this amount of time, I hardly even remember owning it and thought the email was possibly spam. But after some time thinking about it, I do, in fact remember having the game and the issues I had with it. I remember that my #1 problem was I had a 64 bit OS and Elemental would not play on it. I remember trying to get support for the game to help me figure out what to do and I remember them saying there was nothing to be done. So in essence, I now owned a game I could not play and that was that. The game went into a box and got stowed away somewhere to be forgotten. And I really did forget all about it. I never even checked my stardock account for any updates.
Then out of the blue, I receive this e-mail in which Brad explains in a very candid manner how much of a disappointment the game was to gamers as well as the developers/Stardock themselves. Brad basically says,(paraphrasing) "Hey, We know you bought Elemental and we know you thought it sucked. We made a new game that is much better and we are actually proud of. I sincerely hope you will forgive us for the poor quality of Elemental and accept my apology by accepting a free copy of Fallen Enchantress."
Now as I said, I am just now downloading it and have not played it. But I will say this. Firstly, apology accepted. Secondly, Any company that will man up like this and go to these lengths to please a customer... a customer from TWO YEARS ago... deserves a break and I wish them great success because that kind of work ethic and customer care is a rare thing indeed. Whether I find Fallen Enchantress to be good or bad at this point is irrelevant to me. Stardock and Brad Wardell deserve kudos for doing right by the customers and that goes for whether FE hits it out of the park or falls short. The gesture itself is worthy of praise.
Thanks Brad!
