After having played the beta a few times I like the way the game is changing and in addition to the balance tweak s that will be needed, I have a few ideas on improving on the game. Following are some outlines on some of my thoughts.
Defensive Cruisers -
Cruisers for the TEC and Advent factions that specialize in absorbing incoming damage and combating Titans.
TEC - Combat Cruiser
Uses Gauss Cannons, has a damage type that does full damage to Titans and reduced vs all else and some long range. Moderate movement abilities and very heavy armor for a cruiser. Two abilities: Threat Neutralization (Passive) - When attacking a Titan the cruisers weapon can ignore some of the targets armor; Defensive Measures (Active) - Disables the cruisers engines and heavily boosts the armor rating.
Advent - Vengeance Cruiser
Uses Beams, anti-titan damage type and long range. Moderate movement and very high shield points. Abilities: Ingage Adversarial Presence (Passive) - attacks ignore some of a titans armor; Draining Assault (Active) - causes the cruisers weapons to drain shield points from it target and restore its own shield points.
The anti-titan abilities could be improved through research.
Following the Vasari theme of more capable but expensive ships:
Vasari - Demolition Battlecruiser
A capital ship that uses phase missiles and wave cannons. A few squadron gained with levels. Abilites: Heavy Phase Torpedo (Active) - Fires a large phase missile that bypasses targets shields and deals damage, double or triple damage to Titans and Star bases; Advanced Reintegration (Passive or Active) - Provides a percent chance to absorb incoming fire to heal self, energy weapons give shield/physical weapons give health; Phasic Rift (Active or Passive) - creates an aura that causes nearby friendly ships to be harder to hit; Target Analysis (Active) - (level 6) - reveals weak points on target, casuses targeted capital ship/titan/star base to take more damage.
What are other peoples thoughts, would something like these ideas help or not. What are others' ideas for additions that wouldn't need new game engine abilities?
