Hello,
I have a single player game going that's started with 10 and is now down to me and 3 others. I have about 80% of the planets with one other major enemy and two minors.
By the way, my system is a Dell XPS with i7core, gigs of mem and 1.5T in the shed. Plenty of power. Not a concern.
So, at the level of play where I am at is actually new territory. I honestly can't say I have ever gotten Sins to this size. I always wondered how resources would hold out, or hold up for that matter, when there would be sixty or seventy planets to manage. I'm a quick 1, 2 maybe 3 hour type gamer who goes in with a stratagy and hopfully comes out with a victory. Start to finish. Done.
However, with Rebellion, and a few games under my belt, I decided to go for the gusto, big time. See what's beyond that small or medium realm and hang around a huge array of planets for a change. And so I did, not knowing that there IS a way to win by conquering 98 very cool worlds in exciting battle. Below are things I found along the way and think you may want to know about or maybe already do.
1) Capturing a Broadcast Station shows it as yours but keeps broadcasting for the enemy. This prevents colonization from EVER occuring until the station is selected and manually destroyed. At which point the influence is immediately removed and the planet is yours.
2) When the Titan provides upgrading, either initialy or via combat, if you Right-Click the Upgrade button for Automatic Mode, the game crashes, frozen in time. Hit "Windows Key" and screen closes, dialog indicates error and reports it and shuts down cleanly. Very nice. The answer for this right now is to simply use the manual method to upgrade the Titan. It will force you to learn about the upgrades so there is a plus side-effect here.
3) With just four of us left, me and three 'putes, if I destroy a Kol Flagship, crash, frozen in time, shutdown process successful.
4) Spurious audible alerts of "...incoming enemy attack..." or "...our planet is under attack..." when there really isn't any attack or threat.
5) My attack force contains 16 level 10 capitols, 1 Kol Flagship (un-updatable?), 1 level 10 Titan and a collection of other stuff. But this group has it all and is virtually non-stoppable. It has been sucking up planets left and right leaving behind twin starbases everywhere it goes. I have over 800,000 credits. Buying anything is a click away. Seems the financial game opens up completely. Never had a bank account this big.
6) I got a couple ships, enemies, that are somewhere out in space, that's all I can say. There, but gone. I have seen this occassionaly in Diplomacy. Just have to ignore them.
7) No complaints about the graphics or sound. Smooth, dazzling and entrancing with a suttle to sonic serenade of music while the cracks and rumbles of waring waveforms resonate my brain. Way cool stuff... Three cheers to all of ya.
8) With all victory conditions on, the left side screen dropdowns showed me with 100% for Research, which was correct. I had finished everything. But when I came back to the game from a reload, and everytime since, it shows 0%. Apparently this information doesn't get passed through from session to session of game play.
9) There is a lot of enemy ship bounce. Meaning, back-n-forth between two planets when there doesn't seem to be anything else to do except wait for my force to come along and asymilate them.
10) Novalith cannons play a much bigger role these days in the early portion of the games. Even this huge monster had lots of rocks flying around when there didn't use to be. Which is cool. But in this late game stage, every planet has two starbases and a Novalith or two. Seriously! All on auto-fire. You should see the barage when I uncover the status of an enemy planet. Within minutes, I can have some 20 comets raining in on this poor planet. Didn't expect that at all. Enjoyed the show tho...
11) My reload is always crashing now so I may not be able to fully complete the game. Will contiunue to try... Have Fun.
