It exists in the same world but it’s a very different game. It’s not an expansion since there’s not much of War of Magic specific stuff in it. But I hasten to call it a sequel because sequels imply a continuation of an existing series of gameplay mechanics none of which exist.
So what do you suggest we do to describe it to new players?
I too am a little hesitant to call it a sequel, however - and I say this will all due respect - Fallen Enchantress most certainly needs to distance itself somewhat from War of Magic in the social collective's vision.
Most gamers would barely be conscience of War of Magic, however a quick Google search doesn't result in favourable returns in terms of general feedback. While reviews were decent enough, things can get downright nasty in terms of the general public's feedback. 1.4 is a solid title, however it's rocky launch still lingers.
There are two ways to go about it, in my humble opinion.
You can distance it from War of Magic while still retaining the Elemental brand by simply going with "Elemental 2: Fallen Enchantress". Judging from what I've seen, the "2" would be justified with the changes in gameplay and would be a natural progression for the series. However, the third "expansion pack" then needs to follow suit - otherwise it'll get confusing.
You could also opt for something slightly different.
"Fallen Enchantress: Elemental 2" places the subtitle first and foremost - distancing itself while retaining the Elemental branch.
It's really symantics, but instead of simplying that "Fallen Enchantress" is the second version of "Elemental", as in it continues War of Magic's stylings, you're implying that "Elemental" has now been "Fallen Enchantress-ed" and it's a break-away. Which, to me, it is.
My 2 cents
p.s.) I aks for this alot, but can we please have a 2 Cent emoticon?
Thanks!
