New player Help (building)

Been playing the game for the past month i am so hooked............anyways, now when i play it, I can not build structures were i want to like before.  When i build something it will not let me place were i want to build.  Before i could not do it. I rest all the settings and it keeps doing it.  I know i did something but can not figure it out.......Any help would be grateful!

 

I feel such a noob in asking this

I had this same problem when I was a new player...

On the bottom right there is a screen with 10 buttons for "Develop Planet" or "Attack" and stuff like that. Directly to the left of that screen, on top, is a separate button which turns autoplace structures on/off.

I think that by default it's assigned to some hotkey (maybe K? maybe L?) - since you should never want to autoplace structures and don't want to be confused by being unable to manually select where to place them you might want to go into the hotkey settings and turn that hotkey shortcut off.

You probably pressed the key that is bound to "Auto place Structure" or the button is at the bottom just a little right of the middle. I think it looks like the infinity symbol.

I went into the keybinds in sins options and cleared the key that does that.

EDIT: 1st thing I do with every new game is check the keybinds. Tells a lot about  the games possibilities.

I usually place down my building by the autoplacement and it is awesome. Can anyone tell me why would you do it yourself? What are the benefits?

Defense. You want all of your structures grouped together so repair bays, hangar upgrades perhaps a starbase can defense them. If you autoplace them your position will be no where near as strong.

Yeah, autoplacement is extremely bad, especially when defense and seconds matter, in competitive games.

To be honest, I have no problems with the autoplacement. With me even if I autoplace I have no problems with defenses, usually with autoplacement, the defense would autoplaced near it so that with mine, defense turrets, and hangar bays everything is pretty much covered. Of course, with autoplacement, there is a more concentration of defenses near buildings like my frigate and capital ship factory.

Uh... do you play competitive games (online against other humans)? If you do you'll quickly see how bad autoplacement can screw you over.
