Some rambling thoughts about things...
It looks like Netflix is trying to put themselves out of business with the recently announced rate hikes. I long ago quit Netflix over increases in the Blu-ray tax that they were imposing. I've also long since quit Blockbuster.com because I just wasn't keeping up with the rentals like I used to. Other events and things in my life occupying my time made it a valueless proposition for me. Anyway, as noted in plenty of places online and at least one other article here at the JU community, Netflix is raising rates and in turn rousing the masses. The increases may or may not be justified, but most of their customers are not happy because the selection of streaming content is still far from sufficient and the costs to keep both DVDs/Blu-rays by mail and streaming content are now (or will be as of September 1) twice what they were for many users, or at least a lot more expensive than previous. I'm not sure I'll mind seeing Netflix take it on the chin for this move. Hopefully it'll send a big slap back to the greedy movie studios when they realize that they just lost the support of one of what should be their biggest partners.
Weather in my area is a little better today. Some rains blew through just a bit ago cooling things a bit. Now bring on the mildness for a while please, pretty please.
I've been putzin' around a bit on Google+ Interesting though I'd like to figure out how to get at least one of my circle's to stop dominating my stream. Less chatter from one particular circle would be a great thing, but so far I've not figured out how to keep just that one circle "collapsed" by default.
I'm still painting around the house like crazy and not making all that much headway. Oh, I'm making headway I guess, but I just keep figuring out new areas that I need to get to. I'm hoping to finish up the wall that had gone so long "unfinished" in my living room tonite or tomorrow, and then get back to my kitchen and/or my bathroom. That still leaves another bathroom and later a bedroom to get done. The bedroom my fiance's daughter will move into -- after we put new drywall in there (so we don't wind up painting over paneling, a practice I detest). It seems like it'll never end, and yet I know eventually I'll get it all done. At least my fiance helped to pick some colors (thank you Glidden.com online virtual color chooser
) that should work for the bathroom and kitchen. Yay.
On the wedding front, most of the stuff is coming together. RSVPs are rolling in. We got one 'regretfully unable to attend" and another response that showed only 1 of what could have been 3 persons attending. Since we had more invitees than we could probably handle, that's not a bad thing though we'll miss the folks that can't make it.
Still have to pick a wedding cake, and perhaps get some flowers. I may have my parents involved on the floral front. It'll give my mom something to do.
On the around the house stuff, still have lots to get moved out into storage, or tossed out. Not sure what approach will win, but either way stuff has to go. I want to leave plenty of room for my fiance to move into and feel comfortable in.
