I titled this article stuff mostly because I couldn't think of anything else to use as the title, but then again "Stuff" works well as that is a lot of what I'm dealing with at home over the next several weeks. Too much stuff.
With the big day approaching fairly quickly I still have too much "stuff" in the house and I'm trying to get through it and get rid of much of it as soon as I can. I need to get rid of as much as I can to leave room for my fiance to move her own stuff into, as well as having room for her daughter to move her stuff into. And then of course the generic/general "stuff" that will come along with them as well.
Meanwhile I've got lots of stuff leftover from my first wife that I just haven't gone and gotten rid of yet. Partly because of my concerns that doing so would negatively impact my daughter and partly because as I see the stuff and start looking at it it brings back some memories that I wasn't sure I was ready to deal with, or didn't want to be dealing with now. On the plus side, it hasn't been as bad as I thought, though I still need to be more organized and need to work through what will go where as we put a bunch of the stuff into storage so that my children can see it again later if they wish. I wonder just whether or not they ever will look at much of the stuff, but I don't want to just toss it because at some point they may wonder about their own family history more than they currently seem to.
Speaking of which, in the stuff that I last went through there was a "memories" book that my wife had worked on with a lot of my own (and her own) family history contained there in. Family tree type information that I am not certain I would have known that well. I'm sure she and my mother had worked on filling out those details and I'm glad they did. My children can and hopefully will eventually look back at that information and learn more about the family heritage.
Meanwhile, there's some soon to be goings coming up. The space shuttle program is winding down. I'm saddened to see it ending. The last shuttle flight is scheduled to launch on Friday though weather is reportedly an issue currently. If not then, it may slide until Sunday, July 10. Either way, this is the end of the program. After this, no more shuttle flights. It's been a wild ride for NASA, but it's still sad to see it going away.
On other news and such... Casey Anthony who? No, I've not been under a rock. Yes, I know about the case, but really, why should I care and why was that national news?
Debt ceiling continues to be discussed with no resolution. "New revenue" continues to be the hang-up as the Democrats seem to insist they must add revenues. Here's a suggestion -- how about raising taxes only on high income DEMOCRATS?! Leave Republicans alone, and leave the poor alone. That should net them a few dollars of new revenue, shouldn't it < sly grin >
Seriously, the Democrats say that the rich folks (Buffet, Gates, etc.) would be happy to pay more in taxes, right? How about letting those people pay more if they want. Something tells me they won't do it, but what do I know.
