7 deadly sins help

I feel like a lost child in a Walmart store. Can someone please give me a step by step guide on how to install the 7 deadly sins mod? I've tried and tried but no luck.

well 7 deadly sins no longer works with the current versions of Sins so that will be your biggest issue

I do know that 7 deadly sins has their own website/forum area and have people that can help you a bit better

It only works with basic sins 1.05. If you have a CD with that version just reinstall (deactivate any Impulse auto-updating) Or you can download that patch somewhere. I think a site called "Rick's Galaxy" had a link to it, otherwise, or just google for the patch. I don't know how to install the patch, but once that's done just unzip the 7DS archive to the "Mods" folder like all other mods.

Backup all sins mods/achievement files/savegames before fiddling with this, especially if you reinstall from a CD.

Then run sins and activate the mod, check "load mod on startup" or what it's called, and rerun sins.

[Tutorial] Placing Mods 

I did find the patch somewhere. Maybe I will repack the mod with the patch. 

You can have different Sins games installed to different directory's, 1 updated and 1 for old mods.

That's the problem, I've downloaded the patch for it but every time i try to run it i get a minidump. I've installed mods before but I've never had to re-install an old version of the game. Although, i never did zip the mod into the folder i just always tried to play it normally without the mod. Should i just re-download the patch again and unzip the mod into the folder then try?

You can unzip the mod somewhere else and move the folder too. The important bit is that the mod path is ...SoaSE/Mods/ModName/(all the files in the mod, ex. GameInfo folder)

I think the ver. 1.05 mod folder is just called "Mods", the later ones have version-specific mod folders.

Also use the Dev.exe to see why you are getting the minidump.

photoloss the dev.exe came with 1.16 & later, also you are correct with the pre-entrenchment path to the mods folder.

the mods folder changed when entrenchment was released to two/later 3 trees the mods-v1.###(original sins), mods-entrenchment v1.###(entrenchment) and since diplomacy mods-diplomacy v1.###.

and for the public released 7 deadly sins it is for sins 1.05 ONLY and did not even work with the later patches to vanilla sins before entrenchment, so to get it to work you NEED to install the sins from dvd for version 1.00, then download & execute the bonuspack to 1.05( the patch) , put the extracted 7deadly sins into your mods folder, start sins & go to options/mods and activate the 7deadly sins, then drop the detail settings to medium and play

It is for latest entrenchment 1.151 and is currently is in Alpha H stage. It is distributed via live sync and you need to ask to be play tester to try it out. 

Every thing is explained on that forum..... But when it's finished for public release (Dan Says it will actually never finish - they are looking into possibilities to have eventually virtually hundreds of races  to play with....) and it comes out.....

It's awesome already as it is in Alpha stage....

As to step by step mode you need to explain which version of sins do you have and which version of 7DS mod do you have as well. Not all are compatible.

There was also someone who was trying to rework this to work in the latest version of Vanilla Sins...I dunno if he/she ever finished it or not, though.

I could be thinking of the predecessor/successor - whichever one it was, though.

EDIT: Never mind...the person I'm thinking of was working on SINS Plus I believe.

Well i did try the link. It directed me DANMAN's forum, I made an account because once there it directed me to make an account and when i went to the link again it said it was off limits. let's try again from the beginning. As of right now, June 29, 2010 at 8:18 P.M. I have Sins of a Solar empire vs. 1.191 and Sins of a Solar Empire-Entrenchment vs. 1.051. what is the next step i should do? Also i'd like to thank you for answering my post as this is my very first post on the Sins forum

Yes shockmaster sorry about that but that link takes you to depth of playtester. It's easier for me to navigate....

Since you already have an account you just need to ark for permission to be playtester..... Once granted you will be able to download latest version of mod (alpha H) via Windows Live Sync. Really useful program especially if you are running multiple PC's in network .....

They use this option because once they make changes on their PCs ass soon as you run sync your folder will be updated as well. 

 

You will have to be running game with dev.exe because mod is still in development phase.... 

You can find it in (on win 7)

C:\Program Files (x86)\Stardock Games\Sins of a Solar Empire

Nope. should I? I mean, people already have the mod i just wanted to see if there was a way i could make my Sins play it. i already have the mod downloaded i just need to fix up Sins. which i can't.

You don't have right ver of sins. Only alpha H is for latest SINS.....

You probably have 2.1 7DS or something similar. That works only on previous versions of SINS.

from my memory the 7ds 2.1 was for sins 1.05 ONLY, but came out after sins 1.09 was released.

And 7DS 2.1 is the newest publicly released version, which, as you said, only works in vanilla sins 1.05.

You can get the 1.05 patch here (are we allowed to post links to filesharing services? I can't even find the forum rules lol)

Install that patch and try the mod.

and to use the patch you NEED a sins dvd with version 1.00.

Greetings All,

Well I did it.  I made the Alpha public.  This is the 7DS Alpha H as of 07/08/10.

Rules of thumb.  This for Entrenchment, so you need to have Entrenchment up to date and also Sins.  Diplomacy is not supported yet.  They have too many bugs with it.

Your graphic settings must not be set to HIGHEST.  HIGH is the maximum setting.

This is still an ALPHA.  So it is far from complete, and NOT bug free.  This is meant for playtesting, so please report any bugs in the appropriate thread.
