IGN Gives Their Impressions of Elemental: War of Magic

IGN got their hands on a preview of Elemental: War of Magic, and have published their updated impressions of the upcoming game from Stardock.

“In case you haven't been following along with coverage on this title, Elemental: War of Magic fuses turn-based strategy gameplay with role-playing elements in a high fantasy world. Once a game begins it's up to you to scour the terrain, acquire resources, build towns and try to secure a victory, which Stardock says will be possible in a number of different ways.”

Hmmm no mention of the infamous 'Tactical Battle' system... surely its worth a mention somewhere, or does the reviewer know something we dont?

Yeah, just one of the previews stated anything about how combat works and all it said was that it was simple.

I saw that too! The game still has tactical battles, right? All I heard as a change to war was that it wasnt going to be RTS, or simultanious turns, or something along those lines.

Is it really going to be simple? As in, no more tactial battles? I hope not.

It indeed will have tactical battles and they can be complex or simple based on user preference. at one time was going to be continuous turns and now is turn-based

Guys, only believe things straight outta the horses mouth(aka a Stardock developer). Gaming sites get things wrong all the time, so don't think for a moment that the tactical battles were removed and we weren't told.

I've read and seen that too... 'Simple Combat' its not really what I want to hear.

We've been promise 'Tactical combat' but it seems its taken less of a priority now. At this rate it will just be for show only!

This is the kind of crap we don't need. There was just a developer journal on tactical battles and their importance has not been changed. Places like IGN like to jump on one word and make it seem more meaningful than intended. Don't get down because of crap they wrote, get down when Frogboy confirms it(which im 99% sure he wont)

Tactical Combat will be about 0s and 1s. It cannot get more simple than that!
