Ok. Hopefully I'll flesh out this OP later, but I wanted to throw something together in the meantime. I can speak directly for clan pacov on all things and a little for GL. 1st - there are 2 decent sized clans for Demigod out there. You can easily join clan pacov and "maybe" join GL. I say that because I don't know if they decline some people or how they handle things (happy to edit the op if you want to clarify). 2nd - both clans are on the lagwars vent. Your 1st step to join either clan is to download ventrilo and join lagwars vent.
Here is where you can download the client (its free): http://www.ventrilo.com/download.php
Here are instructions on how to use ventrilo to connect to a server: http://www.ventrilo.com/setup.php
Here is the public vent info:
Lagwars vent
Hostname: Oxygen.typefrag.com
Port: 50216
Once you join the vent, PM someone in clan pacov or GL. Each of our channels are password protected but there are plenty of public channels to idle in and people from GL and clan pacov check out the pub channels from time to time.
Anyway, at this point, clan pacov is mostly about fun. I'm an extremely competitive player, but lately have somehow become much more relaxed. I'd much rather get a game quickly than wait 30 minutes to get in a game with my premade.
To join my clan (clan pacov... crazy, I know) - you don't need to change your name to Pacov_FutileEmotion or any nonsense like that. I personally like the concept of clans, but really don't care that much about naming conventions. I welcome those that want to add CP or pacov_ to their name, but really, that doesn't matter all that much imo. I also realize calling the clan "clan pacov" sounds narcissistic, but I really didn't care or think enough to come up with an intelligent name at the time when kingsdagger wanted to get some clan wars going so I got on board.
Anyway, here's how the clans/guilds actually work at this point. Its a little counter intuitive, but again, its all good with me. People who are in clan pacov may very well play on the same team with people from guild legends. You will often find people from GL in clan pacov channels and vice versa. Its no big deal, but that's pretty much how things have been happening. Tonight, we had 12 people in the clan pacov vent channels, but some of those peeps are generally in GL.
Anyway, joining up with either group (or both) offers some benefits. 1 - you get voice chat. AFAIK, everyone in either clan has voice chat (hopefully able to talk and hear, but at least able to hear). You won't be excluded from clan pacov because you don't have a microphone, but you might if you refuse to join lagwars vent and listen in at least. 2 - you get more balanced games. I can only speak for clan pacov here, but I do regularly balance games out to encourage more people to play with and against us. I'm not looking for the super invincible premade team. I'm looking for more and more people willing to mix things up.
If you are a newer player and not necessarily great, you are still welcome, but realize you are joining a group of skilled players. If you want to be welcomed - come right out and say you are new and want to learn. I'm confident someone in clan pacov will welcome you at the very least. But if you assume you are awesome because you did ok in the few games you have played online, odds are you won't be welcome for very long.
