The problem with the ladder is that you start with 1k points and everyone who has an account is ranked, whether they play or not, so you have this massive chunk of 1k players with zero games that deflates the rankings of players under 1k xp.

Regardless a high win percentage isn't sufficient to advance you in the ladder and that's not a bug. If the trend in your games is that you win more than you lose then you should be advancing in rank, but of course without an automated matchmaking system you're not necessarily being matched with and against the correct players so it can be very difficult to get points, which again does not mean it's bugged.

So again I reiterate that a reasonable host would give you a shot if you were confident that you can hold your own againts skilled players, but just because you may be an exception doesn't mean it's a bad rule.

It is inevitable, anything that can be construed sexually will be. Though I am wondering if the originators did this intentionally to easily identify and thus weed out the rabble.

Average deaths/kills in the first 15 minutes of all games would tell you everything you need to know. Stats be damned.

I play 100% custom games and I have a record of 53-37 (58.9%).
And Rob has a record of 36-7 (83.7%)

Hmm....I have 90 games played and Rob has 43 games played yet without knowing anyone else in this game I somehow play premade customs only?

I would also like to play against more pre-mades with my good mates that can handle it, but if u join and my friends aren't on don't expect a game.

Its funny how the competitive community gets such a huge amount of flame. No one said it was bad to be a casual player, and yet these threads are full of people flaming pro games for the very idea that someone might be good at the game.

It's not that they are good at the game per sé, it's just that everyone thinks of themself that they are good and anyone not doing it like them therefor is a noob. You might debate semantics here but in real life a pro not only has pro skill but also pro behavior. While perhaps most of you may have one, you usually lack in the other.

As long as there is no working ranking system every classification of a pro is just an opinion, an opinion which is equal to any other player's opinion.

I've been kicked by euros time and time again for having 180 ping, and I've never had issues playing with euro players who don't kick me. One time I had, I kid you not, 150 ping and they said I had to leave, to which I responded "it's not an FPS." If their reply weren't founded on such a deep misconception it would actually be quite witty, because almost instantly they responded "it's not chess either" and kicked me.

The total number of games you can play with people right now is really, really artificially deflated because of this. The only region that seems to have legit connection issues with other regions is Autstralia. Asia might have the same problem but I haven't encountered any asian players that I know of (which might just mean it works fine and there was no reason why I would have noticed).

But back to the topic at hand, let's be honest. The majority of players just don't like hosting lobbies and there's not enough mediocre and poor players who are opening them, so the odds of a bad player finding a match with players of similar skill level are slim. These players' unwillingness to open lobbies leads them to join and then ruin quite a number of decent games, which is another reason why we need automatic matchmaking.

Also kudos to the guy who pointed out the absurdity of the people here who think they're doing the people they stomp a favor, like some kind of seemingly cruel kung fu master who hardens his student. If you don't have a goddamn floor length ghost white beard, you're not doing anyone any favors, stop pretending you are.

Yeah I know it's subjective. I don't really know any way to make sure "noobs" don't join "pro" games. I wasn't suggesting any sort of solution, I was just saying that it is frustrating for all the "pro" players involved in a game when some guy joins up who isn't on par with the others and that the Wickedcrusher guy didn't have to come in here callin Robwild an idiot.

Basically I usually see Robwild's games with "no noobs" or "pros" in the title, which means he's being a courteous player and trying to let everyone know that they better expect healthy competition. That usually translates into games taking longer to fill up, so I respect him and his friends for doin that. It kinda sucks though that when a group of good players try to do what the community has been whining at them to do (title their games with premade/no noobs/pro or something), even that fails.

The best solution is a flexible premade team system of some sort. We don't have that yet though.

If the ranking system worked I might support that.
