I think I'm updating my system to if(new_game_comes_out_by_Stardock), then(don't_buy_it).
Please see to it.
People have this misconception that companies want customers no matter what. I can assure you that we can do without customers who think their purchase entitles them to abuse us.
I'm a gamer. I make games because I enjoy it. I also don't tend to put up with crap because, well, I don't have to.
But make no mistake, I would prefer our games to make a lot less revenue than have to deal with users who think their purchase entitles them to be jerks. We'll do our best to support people as best as is humanly possible but anyone who thinks that a piece of PC Windows software can be released that works perfectly on 100% of systems is someone who should be playing console games.
The most common crash on Demigod we have identified has to do with a LUA decompression issue. What causes that? It has to be investigated. Is it a certain service pack of Wiindows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows 7? Perhaps some codec on the system has been replaced that changes that way files are decompressed? Perhaps it's an issue that only shows up in multiplayer when the host is language A and the clients are language B and C? Or maybe it's an obsure issue where a SSD drive running on Windows XP is having an obscure issue when files are real-time decompressed in one language and their ISP is trying to use some proprietary compression to send it over the net that doesn't handle double-byte characters? Or maybe it's a genuine bug that only happens on certain systems due to timing, thread performance, or something else that only started happening since v1.1 which, unknown to use, switched the priority on decompression threads from normal to above-normal.
I don't claim to be a professional. I only promise to tell you the truth.
