Yes and even before the fix it didn't actually even deduct the favor points for buying it, except in singleplayer.
However -- occasionally if you buy a new one it might not save it for the next match even with the fix, but I've only ever seen that happen if something goes wrong like the the game ending before 3 minutes or a desync. But then it shouldn't take the points away either.
If you are actually having your favor items not save, and still losing the points that it costs to buy them, with the latest version of the game installed, and in games that are otherwise counting for stats normally, then I'd guess you'd want to contact support.
