Heya boys and girls, and frog boys and girls. Thought i'd share my thoughts on the game after playing a bunch of mulitplayer games so far. There also seems to be a decreasing number of constructive posts on these forums which... is kind of getting annoying, but hopefully they'll pick up again
So hero balancing .... love it. I have to say, i absolutely love the balance in the game. I have no idea how the dev's did such an amazing job balancing the game to the near-pristine state it is in. I personally decided to devote myself to playing UB early on in Demigod while i was trying out all the characters, and i absolutely praise the fact that depending on what characters i verse, i can change my play style, and no matter who i play against, its always a measure of skill and knowledge of the game to see who wins. No heroes are unbalanced in this game, and if balancing is needed, then it would end up being very slight adjustments. So, A+++ for balancing ^^
Next subject will be the multiplayer-online experience... this feedback will be different, so ill divide it into a pro's and con's section.
Pro's:
- Custom games, very cool, you get to join up, talk to people before you start, you also decide on which game you want to join or if you want, you can even host which ever map you feel like playing. So custom games is a great big tick.
- Chat system in game, nice and basic, can even chat to all, or just to allies.. keeping it simple and giving us all the options.
- Pantheon, the idea of dark vs light... first time i saw it, dark was losing .. so i actually felt compelled to play more games to boost up the dark points!! It feels cool to be apart of something massive like that, the idea of pantheon as a tournament is great as well.. i would look forward to this being developed into something more maybe?
Con's:
- Pantheon/Custom games... there is no chat channel system whilst not actually in a game at the moment. This makes it hard to socialise with other players in the community, makes it hard to communicate with people outside of games as well. To be honest, one of the main drawbacks of Demigod as a game... is that there is no actual feeling of being involved in a community, when ever i log on to Demigod, my only option is to click on a game and start playing with random people that i dont actually know otherwise. Don't get me wrong, playing with random people is great, but wouldnt it be nice to be able to talk to people in a chat channel and play with arranged team games with who you choose to play them with?
- Arranged team games... dont exist... except for in custom games, however that would result in 1 side being arranged and the opposing side being randoms.
- No "random" selection for heroes? So, when you want to play a game, you choose "random" as a hero, and the computer will randomly assign a hero to you. ( a true test of skill for veterans =P )
So, in terms of a multiplayer-online experience (lets face it, it's what this game is all about), it just feels like there is no actual community, that there isnt any sense of belonging anywhere. The only actual reason for this is because there isnt a chat system, the only kind of communication that i have with anyone else that plays the game is on these forums, which just isn't the same.
Hm, so i hope this has been constructive, i mainly wanted to point out and make suggestions for a chat system in game (similar to what wc3 has done maybe?) as i have a feeling it would be much appreciated by a lot of players
