The friends chat in impulse...

...is completlty useless.

 

Seriously though, the biggest problem with the chat feature for friends is that you don't get an audible or visible notice that would tell you when you recieve a message. Now correct me if im wrong, but i've found no way of turning a feature like this on.

When i log on, if hes online and i message him, he will have no way of knowing that i messaged him because nothing tells him i did! This alone renders the entire chat feature completly pointless and useless and a waste of dev time.

 

Also i understand that the servers need to be fixed and all that so i understand that that is priority, however i believe this issue is quite pressing and should be moved up the list of whatever else there may be to fix.

 

Thoughts?

This is the rushed implementation of impulse chat.  They rushed it because we the beta players really stated it was important, so that got it in there.  They were supposed to have it in by mid-late summer.  Late/End of Summer will also see VOIP.  Expect improvements overtime.

 

Rome was not built in a day, contrary to popular belief.

First they have to fix the high priority stuff, like improved ai since most of us are playing the singleplayer campaign.

Yes, I find the friends chat in Impulse quite useless.

Wasted sarcasm, as a lot of players have complained about the AI. You cannot know why they chose to fix problem X first, before problem Y. All people do is complain anyway, whichever option they chose.

If the person you are sending a message to is running demigod then a small popup will appear on the right hand side of their screen when they receive the message you sent.  It will show a small version of your user icon and your name.  If they click on that they will get the chat window to you opened up with your message in it.

I believe the chat indicator will go away about 1 minute after it initially showed.

If the person wasn't running demigod at the time you sent the message then currently nothing will popup.  Changes to that require some server side changes which for obvious reasons have been fairly low on the priority list recently!

hmm maybe have it edited  so that u can only see people online  who are in the client  because  at the moment it doesn't help much it just  says offline and in game

should have

offline

online

online in lobby

online in battle

 

this would be alot more help

If this is true then it is completely bugged. I have tested this with friends on the phone. I am getting absolutely no notification with demigod running. Both with the impulse overlay visible, and with it not visible.

this is a really annoying problem in the game, please look into it

It would be nice if that were true, but it isn't. It only pops up some of the time. I'd say about 50% of the time, maybe even less.

GPG is not developing Impulse.

hmm it works sometimes and not others which i think is annouying

The friends list isnt an instant chat like the demigodgame chat box. You should be able to type someones name, even if hes not on your friends list and he recieves it within 10 seconds... With a loud DING or something.

I sometimes get friends chat that is 3 hours old or more, or it never shows up untill i relog.

I've noticed this, but for a while I thought it was a bug because the button looks exactly the same as the username fields in the connection info screen.

might want to fix it so there is a confirmation if you want to add the person as friends. People randomly appear on my friends list when I never sent them a friends request but they added me.

I don't like being on peoples friends lists I don't know nor them to be on mine.

no that is exactly the problem, it doesn't show up even when both are online at the same time
