dont hate, but i quit a game today in the first 120 seconds

Before the pitchforks and angry mob start appearing, hear me out. I dont quit games, im a decent player yada yada. Entered into a custom game where my teammates fed the enemy in quick succession. They were obviously very new, while our opponents were more on my level. it wasnt going to be close, it was going to be an all out slaughter.

So i left in the first few minutes.

keep in mind before i hear the comments "well you dont know how the game would have panned out, they could have just had an unlucky first few minutes yadda yada"., please just take for granted in this exercise that ive played enough to know what a nub vs exp game in the first minute or two looks like and this is what it was. So, instead of spend 20 minutes just getting raped I chose to leave and play a more evenly matched game.

Again, this is within the first two minutes, not halfway through the match when everyone has time invested. i didnt screw my teammates, as it was hopeless from the beginning (for you to have an opinion on this, again assume that this is true), either way they would get a loss, eithe rway the other team gets their win..the only thing missing from the new equation is my wasted 20 minutes.

im totally willing to have it show up as a loss on my record, as while stats are nice i decided that my time is more valuable, and id like to play more enjoyable games instead of level up my stats. for example in pantheon, if its me and a human vs a human and an AI , i leave instead of get the free win. Thats how Ive been rolling and its more satisfying than statting.

So, take that all into consideration and give me your opinion. Mature and intelligent responses only please, no insults etc.

I did the same today really....the game started and before the second minute this guy had already died twice....it was as if he was doing it on purpose. So i left...i really dont wanna play a game like that

chasnaska i actually agree with you to a certain extent. I do that in games where we are winning though (as i dont have to use the builds im comfy with to keep our edge). i dont think you can really test a build when its in essence 1v3.

Like Ke5trel mentioned, it would be a lot better if you would communicate your reason for leaving the game before hand, or even to inform them that you concede.

That said, there was a game where one team mate left due to a disconnect (happened during the loading screen) and my remaining team mate and I asked the other team repeatedly if we can just discount this game and create a new one. There was no reply. I so just coordinated with my team mate to leave the game together such that none of us has to face the 30 second wait.

Same idea here. You KNOW you are going to lose, but you could have tried a new build out. Instead of getting Erebus' bite, try to be minion heavy (except minotaur captains- they just suck), or instead of regulous' snipe ability, go mine heavy. SOMETHING other than RAAAAAAAAGEquitting. I'm not one to hop on quitters and start throwing punches... but maybe you could have at least tried to help teach your team mates a thing or two. Would you win? Probably not. Could you have fun? Possibly.

You can't tell in the first 2 minutes if the opponent or you teammate is a good or bad player. I had so many players who made mistakes at the beginning, played to offensive and died very stupid. In the end they owned me really really bad cause they were better in the long term, they just made a mistake in the beginning.

For me, your post is just a bad excuse. But maybe you learn something out of it.

ok enzi respect your opinion, but as i stated that game was in fact going nowhere. i wouldnt have left if i werent absolutely certain.

chaos - this isnt intended as an insult, but graduate high school, then college, fight a war, go to graduate school, be successful and become wealthy through your hard work, have a wife and a few kids, and then tell someone to man up thanks.

I understand your reasons and the reasons of the other people who consider leaving to be ok.

On the other hand I dont want to play with people like you.

I wish there was an option to filter out people who have more than 10% or 15% leave / play.

Each of su would then be able to play with the kind of people he likes.

Well if it goes badly, offer to give some advice. If it continues and they do not want to listen then tell goodbye and disconnect. Just use the oppertunity to learn people something.

Ive been thrown into game with total nubs but I stayed... and still managed a 6-2 record Its not like games with such team mates last more then 18 minutes anyway. For now I guess you can rage quit although it does ruin the game for the the other team... I'm sure they didn't just spend 5-10 minutes setting up a match to fight versus AI think about that.

Eventually Stardock will give us the good old internal ban list and that will be that no more quitters

I don't blame you or anything here just venting my thoughts.

Just because you have a noob in your team doesn't mean it will be a boring game. You can always try to teach the person a thing or two and hopefully he wont be as much a noob next game, and thus making the community bigger and better

It takes long enough to get into a game that playing through the pain for 20 minutes is not worth it. I'll usually say something before leaving but it does not bother me to leave - especially when it becomes clear that the other team is actually a pre-made.

For custom games, they should display your elo ranking next to your name, or sometype of indication of record so that you know what you are getting into when getting into a game. It would save a lot of people pain rather than finding out 3 minutes into the game.

I've won games with AI or with rookies feeding my opponents kills. Those are the games when I know I'm a really, really good player. It's absolutely no challenge to win when I stack the deck with skilled teammates.

I've really enjoyed losing some very close games where my teammates were overmatched. Bad losses are frustrating, but nothing is better than winning a game where your teammates ragequit and leave you with the 'stupid' AI. It's the tough games where you really feel good at the end.

I feel sorry for you. Why not just play against easy AI all the time on your own? That way everything is nice and static and you never have to worry about having your fragile ego hurt by a loss in an online video game.

Maybe its just me, but i rather waste half an hour fighting the AI, than to quit.. that is.. as long as there are humans in the game. If im the only one left, i dont usually make an issue out of it.

There should be a give up option, and quitters should by default be considered to have given up. This way a game could simply end when all players quit on one side, or the last player left could just decide to give up if it isnt going nowhere.
