Thank you for explaining why you're the scum of the internet.  I'm not trying to be rude, but by admitting that you pirate video games you admit that you are internet scum and not really worthy of recognition of any criticism of this or any other game.

  Normal, hard working people that pay for their video games also understand that the people that make them are normal, hard working people themselves.  Because of this, we atlest show a litte more respect towards those that make these games than those that tend to not pay anything that all (pirates) and proceed to complain about game issues. Tisk, tisk.

cut the guy some slack , and  DiceMoney if you feel that you didnt like the game due to the issues at hand , theres a patch coming monday assumingly solving the p2p issues , and were hoping for a more competetive game in the future.

If you feel like the money is wasted contact customer support and ask for a refund .

You're confusing interface&handling with game mechanics

Take for example really old RTS games like Warcraft I or Dune2000: they're good games but playing them sucks because we're used to modern interfaces. It's annoying e.g. to have to click the attack button then the enemy, instead of having an intelligent cursor which automatically knows you want to attack the enemy, not just walk next to him. Modern RTS games all have these interface innvations and copy them from each other because their players are used to playing their RTSs that way. In FPS-shooters a similar interface object would be the crosshair.

HOWEVER this thread is about gameplay mechanics, not interface. Ppl in counterstrike don't say "omg! quake has quad damage, without quad damage counterstrike sucks! quad damage is REQUIRED for competetive gameplay!"

Because while games of the same genre do have some mechanics in common, not all of them even make sense in some of them nor would they necessarily make the gameplay more "competetive".

One such mechanic in DotA would be "denying", it's an essential part of DotA but makes no sense/would suck in DG. In return DotA has no spell interrupts (that i'm aware of) nor citadel upgrades.

So: keep in mind DG != DotA. Just because DotA sofar has been the most popular (not the first though) representative of this genre, doesn't mean DG should necessarily do anything like it, nor is it required to make the gameplay competetive.

Also remember DotA took years to reach the lvl of competetive gameplay it has now, for people to refine their combat skills and strategy. Give ppl (and DG) time to develop it's competetive side (most of that will start when team pantheon becomes available).

One thing about casting that DG has which Dota does not: being able to cancel casting a spell. I absolutely love the convenience of this. You cast the spell and just "undo" it by quickly issuing a move order before the cast time is up. It is very forgiving of mistaken casting or if the situation changes while the cast is in progress and I love this so far.

I like DemiGod, but it's n-o DoTA. It's a decent little game in itself, just not enough of, well, anything.

Too few maps, to few demigods, too few effects, too few different game-types. Just like most decent games in the last few, the base and foundation is there, but, where the heck is mah game?!

And, to mention the piracy, I think in todays world of "Get The Patch!", I can seriously understand why people download things first, and if they work/are semi-decent, they then buy them.

Seriously, imagine if a real brick-and-mortar industry worked like computer software.. .. .. "Yesh, sir, your tv will function fully sometime within 6 months, meanwhile, enjoy the splendid, albeit cut in half picture, until we fix that minor issue.", "Here is your brand new CAR! The clutch should arrive sometime in 8 months or so....".

Only in the software world is this accepted, I personally think that alot of the "piracy" is nothing more than a cautious consumer.

lmao dude it is possible to not buy alot of games...and i dont pirate games. The only games ive ever played that were pirated... i actually owned in the first place, i just lost them, and they didnt make them anymore. And people like dota because of the complexness of it, and i just wanted to know if there are any dota players that feel the same way as i do.  People chill out...

But also being a pro dota player, i am very familar with the genre, and i still having heard your argument, there is ALOT that DoTA does better than any other AOS. I think if they were more involved with the AoS/Dota competitive community, some of the balance issues might have been worked out pre-release. Just a thought.
