PEOPLE! Serious thread is serious.
Some say it's Light because they have the Rook and Oak(and Regulus if you are a cheating multi-boxing tri-sniper). But if we apply my amazing Gorgrian logic, we can see how this is false.
Why did the Delta Force need Chuck Norris? Because they're rubbish.
Why does Daniel-son need Myagi? Because he's rubbish.
Why does Earth need Superman? Because we're rubbish.
What about every action film where the uber-competant hero must protect the puny villagers from the bad guys? Exactly.
I think we have firmly established the FACT that the losers have the best heroes on their side, because they NEED the heroes. But look at the villains: they manage to build entire empires and vast infrastructures in order to launch their assault on overrated freedom and liberty, thwarted ONLY by exceptional heroes, using the most ridiculous henchmen. Remember, it is the villains that recruit the henchmen, whilst on the other side it is the oppressive but unworthy masses that recruit their heroes. No wonder so many heroes eventually become villains; seeing well the tyranny of an unqualified majority in their uninformed selection and subsequent misappropriation of reward. The awesome Oak and Rook(+cheating little Regulus) are only on the wrong side because they took pity on an unwashed mass that would not return the favour if it required even a modicum of the same efforts the Oak and Rook give to them.
But I think a great villain says it better than I:
