1UP gives Demigod a 24hour chance

Few things annoy me more than a promising looking game that I can't play, so we sent a quick WTF to Stardock president Brad Wardell, who's actually pretty open about their present difficulties. Interestingly, at least part of the problem seems to be the fact that people have been stealing the hell out of the game over the weekend.

That sounds plausible to me. And the expectation that the server issues should be resolved in 24 hours is heartening.

So I am guessing if the server issues aren't resolved in 24hours that we could be seeing another review simular to Gamespots from him, but only worst since he has been anticipating and he will only be left with dissapointment. Good Luck Stardock

I will seriously be surprised if Stardock does not get this down within the next day. I have to admit that I was one of those people taking advantage of GameStop's blatant disregard, and I'm sorry for causing trouble. But my faith is in Stardock, and I am glad 1Up realizes how great of a game Demigod could be. Hopefully Gamespot will do the same and re-review the game. If not, they might find that they have a huge flamer within their ranks.

I wouldn't call a professional reviewer attempting to play the game on the day of release and not being able to due to reasons beyond his control "letting his own anticipation flaw his judgement"

Please get some common sense. The gamespot reviewer did not determine the release date for the game, why would he have to continue to wait days after release to play the game? Because there are technical issues, and that's why the reviewer mentioned those technical issues in his review.

The game was reviewed for what it was when it was when released, stop blaming the reviewers.

Yeah, if the purpose of reviews is to give consumers advice about buying a game or not, the review should be based on how the game is at the time of the review. As such, it would have been irresponsible for Gamespot to give the game a positive review given the current problems.

That said, Gamespot should check back again in another couple weeks, month or so at most and try reviewing it again. But unless GPG adds a significant amount of content from now until then I doubt much would change, even if Stardock totally fixes the connection issues.

That's not what I meant at all.

Sometimes, I go to the movies. The movies are good or bad or average. However, I was really looking forward to some of these movies. I anticipated that movie X would be good. Because I did that, my standard for grading it was actually higher - even though it WAS a good movie, because I had waited for it, I still deemed it an average. And sometimes it's the other way around - I expect a movie to be bad, but it is actually average. Because of what I anticipated, I would judge it a good movie.
