Leaf -- Yet Another LAN/VPN experiment.

Alright, I decided to start another thread dedicated to any Leaf users. I'm keeping the Hamachi networks up as needed since there has been some positive results; but right now I'm really curious to see how well Leaf handles LAN multiplayer.

Anyone who uses it, my name on there is (duh) revlazaro. Go ahead and try adding me to friends...I've tried it with 1 person to no avail but I changed some settings that might help.

Before we get setup, anyone wanting to play might want to try logging out of Leaf, going File-Options and changing Application Priority to Real-Time instead of High (recommended setting for LAN games).

And apologies if anyone is annoyed that I started another thread for this.....figured it's two seperate VPN programs and was warranted its own thread for people to experiment with it.

Is Leaf free to use software?  I've never even heard of this product before (though I'm familiar with Hamachi).

Yeah it's free.No promises though since me and another user hooked up but couldn't find eachother's hosted games.

Might have been doing something wrong; so this thread is also for feedback.

So why did you abandon Hamachi for this?  Seems to me that Hamachi probably has a larger following, and more people are probably trying to get this working than Leaf users. 

Maybe you should stick with Hamachi?

i cant get it to work..i installed it and when i tried to create an account appears a dialog box with "could not connect , proxy" wtf i don't have a proxy..i have direct connection..no router

 

if u can give me a "setup guide" (sounds really noobish but who cares..)

I didn't abandon Hamachi; I just closed out the networks to experiment with something. The channels are back up now; if it interrupted a game I apologize.

Last night, we were having mostly no connections in Hamachi. I heard 1 group got going. I tried Leaf out and no avail....so technically, I came back to Hamachi and wanted to try hosting while I had 1 Network cluster up, which was how I got it to run in the first place yesterday afternoon. I'm really baffled how I was able to host a few games and then, without any changes to patching/setup, nobody was able to play for most of last night and today.

Right now I have both programs Leaf and Hamachi installed; and I shuffle between the two (and yes, I disable/enable the network connections independently so they don't interfere. Yes, I have ports forwarded and the PC is in the DMZ.) I'm not claiming to be an expert with either...I've used Hamachi for various private game servers many times, and Leaf was just something recommended so my logic dictates: If one seems to be failing en masse; check the alternatives.

I don't care which one has a bigger following; we're all Demigod players and I want to find a solution that works

Well, all I meant was, the one with the larger following has a better chance of a solution being found, I didn't mean to insult your curious spirit to go check out other software or anything.

If Hamachi has more Demigod users banging away at it, chances are SOMEONE will find a nice setup, whereas if Leaf only has a few Demigod players checking it out, chances are they won't figure it out before the larger Hamachi crowd. 

That's all.  I full support and encourage any and all attempts to play Demigod though, so kudos for your adventurous nature in trying to get Demigod games going.

NP; just wanted to make sure peeps knew I wasn't giving up on either.

If we find a magic solution, I'll make sure to let peeps know.
