Few question's before purchase.

Quite a long time ago now my friend told me "there is a game in developement you might be interested in". And he was very right about that. He knew that I was a great fan of "Darkness and Light" MMO which worked on exactly same concept as Demigod and DoTa (which I was far too late to get into). Sadly DaL was shut down and I realy missed a game like this. And now, there are only few dayes to play even better game then DaL. I am almost certain i will buy Demigod, but before i do so, i'd like to ask few questions about this game.

1. First of all, will my computer handle Demigod? It is quite old (i'll list specs below) but manages surprisingly large amount of new games (including Fallout 3) since i keep it 'clean'. The question is, will I be able to play Demigod without problems? (and i don't care that much for graphics as long as game loads fast enough and i dont get freezed in the middle of the combat)

2. My greatest concearn. What about hackers? As far as i understood, the game won't use remote server, but game clients will do the work instead. This leaves the clients to perform any calculations and those can be easyly altered with hacking programs, including modyfing leaving and receaved packages. Has this been adressed? Because i'd hate to see this game get killed within few weeks by hackers who doesn't understand what playing is about. And answer 'people who play this kind of games usualy don't cheat' is not satysfying... because they usualy do.

3. I live in Poland (that should explain tedious ammount of my language mistakes), but i'd love to play the game as soon as possible. In polish web stores they say that the game will be avalable 10-14 days after global realise. Since i have no experience in buying stuff online, aspecialy digital downloads, i'd like you to recomend me any sites that would offer me oportunity to play the game on its realise date.

Those are all questions i have for now, if i will have more i will drop them here. And thank you in advance for your replyes

I would wait until a demo is released and play then and decide whether the game appeals to you both in terms of fun and how well it works on your computer.

By then, you will be able to purchase it from multiple sources too.

This is some kind of idea, but it doesn't adress the 'impatience factor' I've been realy waiting for the game to come out for quite a long time now, and i'm 100 possitive that will appeal to me in term of fun since i've spent alot of hours playing game exactly same in terms of idea of gameplay.

But you didn't answer my second question.. should i be worried?

Waiting for demo is not the best solution since you don't know when it will be out.. i've read on this forum that it will take about a month to get realised... and thats a long time.

In a lockstep peer-to-peer game hacking usually comes in the form of fog of war removal and see invisible. Currently, the only invisible things are land mines and being able to see them isn't that big of an advantage. Being able to see the whole map is going to be the primary hack for the game I think which may lead to people just playing with the fog of war turned off.

Depanding on how the game has been created you can have a whole variety of possible hacks. You have to remeber that every variable is stored in the ram (your's or the server's... or both) and can be altered with basic knowledge of what, where and how to look for as long as you have uncontrolled access to those variables. Also, every data sent and receaved by the client can be altered too (as far as i know its harder then messing in ram - but i have bo experience in this). My point is - if it's not protected it will get hacked. And by hacked i mean ultra-fast-unkilable-instatly-killing-you demigods in every second game you will enter.

I must also note something as well. Tough there has been alot of comments here to discourage you, you must also understand that things are usually put into place to prevent certain things from happening. I'd like to mention supcom, and I havn't seen that many hackers on there match making games. Plus there is the patheon, which is a ranked multiplayer system, so I am sure something would have to be implemented to limit the exposure of hackers to the game. I'd also recommend hearing some comments from the actual design team on how they are addressing hacking issues.

I think he will be able too. Often computers can play things that they shouldnt be able to if you take good care of your comp (as he says he does). And its only slightly inferior. My brother's computer is garbage and he still manages to play some new games. I think you'll be ok.

If your computer can run Fallout 3 but not Demigod, then something is wrong... with Demigod.
