i need help

custom ship problems, fleet battles, and more!

i need help with something, whenever a fleet attacks during the end turn phase, i cant watch the battles in the epic way, all i hear is lasers and the battles over, even if my own ships are involved. how do i make it go to the battle screen thing for every battle?

 

my second problem is that i downloaded some custom ships, but they have all been made with freighter hulls, how do i change that while still saving the appearance of the ship?

There are several options related to the showing of the battle screens.  You're looking for the following:

Battle Options:
-Move camera to view attacks (check)
-Show battle sequences (check)
-Show opponent's battle sequences (check)
-Always watch player ships in full battles (check)
-Battle length: Full battles
-Full fleet battles (check)
-Show fleet battles only if both sides are fleets (uncheck)
-Auto-play full battles (at your discretion)
-Show orbiting ship in planet in normal and quick battles (uncheck)

That should give you the desired results. 

I'm not sure on the second one.

Second issue;

If these are S*_UD***.xml & cfg set of files they are located in the C:\Docs folder... otherwise they must have been loaded from a mod folder.

they are shipcfg and xml files

 

i opened them up and i dont notice anything wrong with them im currently trying to use http://library.galciv2.com/index.aspx?m=393 http://library.galciv2.com/index.aspx?m=277 by croc411

Well, if you follow AFRonin instructions (as linked in my initial suggestion) through editing these files, they *MAY* become Smalls from their Cargo Hulls *IF* these Hulls have the necessary trailer of 6 (Starting Blank Hulls!).

Otherwise they'll remain exactly as designed by croc411.

sorry to bump this old thread, but i never got it to work following the instructions you linked me, i dont understand alot of what you and him are talking about, i am very confused.

To view tactical ship combat do the following:  > Menu > Interface.  Under Battle Options select Always Watch Players Ships in Full Battle.  The "show" leaves something to be desired but it can be helpful in evaluating your ships performance against the AI.

It's better to necro than start a new thread.  If you don't understand something, don't wait so long.  There is almost always someone around to help.

Just wanted to note that those old ship designs of mine are broken in Twilight of the Arnor right now (they should work in Dark Avatar or Dread Lords though). They look totally messed up. And you CAN'T change their hull type since the #6 hull didn't exist back when I created them.

If you play ToA you might want to try my new ship-pack that I released a few weeks ago, just look for the thread in the modding forum.

Midnightrunner also has uploaded two big new wing commander ship-packs over at galciv2guide.com.

I don't think you get to watch fleet battles if they do not involve your own ships.  Sometimes, you get to see the battles happen at the map level, but that's it.  Since all the AI versus AI battles happen at the end of the turn, those may be most of the ones that happen then.

I'm not sure I can recall having seen battles initiated by an AI involving my own ships, either, but I am much less confident about this one.  Maybe I'll get lucky in a game tonight and have that happen.  If so, I will post again.
