Hello, all. New SoaSE fan here, with a bit of an itch to do a small amount of modding ... and running into a bit of a wall. While I think it's great that the game is fan-moddable at all, without necessarily being an advanced programmer ... well, the lack of documentation on which does what is a bit problematic standing where I am: at the very very bottom of a rather steep-looking learning curve. Well, the questions I currently have are in relation to Strike Craft (Fighters and Bombers in the unmodified game):
Question #1:
I would like to add the ability for bombers to deal a very small amount of Planetary Bombardment damage (like, maybe 1 point per bomber). I have no idea how to even begin to do this. Is it even possible? And if so, how ...?
Question #2:
I would like to add a technology that increases not the number of strike craft per squadron, but rather, the number of squadrons supported by a particular structure or unit. Is this possible, and if so, how would I begin attempting to do so?
Question #3:
I would like to make certain sorts of strike craft dependant upon researching the correct technology. Given the way the Advent does their mines, I believe it should be possible even for the basic sorts of strike craft. What I'm not sure about, is: if I have, say, "Fighter" and "Advanced Fighter", do structures or units that carry fighters need an entry for each craft from the get-go, or is there a way to have "Advanced Fighter" simply replace "Fighter" ...?
