[Gameplay] - Intermittent Pause

I played the beta for the first time last night and noticed an intermittent pause every 10 minutes or so.  The game would just hang for about 30 seconds and then things would start moving again.  My system specs are as follows:

Windows XP, Intel C2D E6600 Processor, 4GB RAM, GeForce 8800 GTS 320 MB (Updated Drivers), Cable Modem Net Speed

Maybe my specs don't support the game, not sure.  The graphis settings were default, no AA or anything.

I had setup a custom Internet game and was planning to just use AI but then someone from online joined so yes, it was online.

It could be the other person.  I know a number of RTS games (particularly C&C) attempt to run all games at the same framerate (I forget the exact term for this) and pause all other players if one player has a framerate drop.  Other games have small pauses like that when they wait for a player who is lagging a bit to catch up.

Do another custom game with AI only and see if you have any issues.

yes, try an AI only match. 

 

otherwise console (shift+tilde) in; 'ren_showNetworkStats' and as the game pauses look for any indication of a specific lagger (it may indicate yourself).

Yeah, did AI only and it was fine so it was probably just network lag, thanks for the replies!
